This Never Happened, It's Just a Dream...

« on: November 21, 2006, 02:51:01 PM »

Now that Jay Z has released his big album after the promotion, will it be GNR's turn? I personally think thats why the album was delayed from the initial rumored release date is because it would interfere with both records sales. Now will we see the push? The Harley ad was originally supposed to be aired a month ago, until it was pulled... Thats what makes me think it has less to do with GNR and Company and more to do with Universal...

I don't think it has much to do with JayZ or Snoop Dogg or any non-rock genre new release today. ?I'm sure there are exceptions, but I doubt anyone in the market for the new Jay Z is gonna be much interested in GNR's new release.

Yes, now they are gone give Axl Rose and his magnum opus all the attention.

Merck: We want you to prepare for a release before christmas

Universal: Eh...ok, when will we get the album?

Merck: There are 33 days left between now and christmas. You will get it on one of those days.

Universal: ....ok....thanks for letting us now Mr. Merurdaiususi, let's set up some meetings....or something. We'll let you know.

Merck: Thank you. I'll make sure to keep Mr. Rose happy

On the phone to Merck later that day

Axl: I want Ron and Frank to rerecord all the parts! I also have gotten a couple of new ideas to songs I want on the album.!!

It's not easy me thinks.

Right- because Universal can only work with one record at a time, and the charts can only accomodate one big release at a time.

Today's audience is not rock, rap, and pop orientated... The audience is everyone... Unlike ten years ago... Universal has two big hitters... They are not going to release them at once, because it will hurt sales and profit...

I'll bet that was the problem!

Axl went in and said "Here's the fuckin' album, fuckers!" and they said "Um, yeah ... we're gonna give it a rest for a bit, we're not particularly eager to release that one just yet ... If you could maybe ... come back later ... that'd be great."

Sorry to hear about that, but fair enough...Would you buy only ONE of them if they both came out on the same day?  And if so, would the fact that you bought ONE prevent you from buying the other a week later?

Doubt universal even has the cd themselves, the backlash Axl and guns are gonna get over this charade might be the final nail in the coffin ppl are sick of being played with, sick of supporting a guy who seems to wanna fail no matter. If it does not come out this year I will live but you can be sure I won't buy CD if it does ever come out next year or whenever I am done investing into a guy who cannot give anything back.
