On topic though, seriously there's no reason why people can't call their customer service department and ask questions. That's the whole point of providing that contact number and hiring people to do. I mean obviously there's an exception, as long as 10,000 people aren't calling up abusing them or people pulling pranks, there's no harm

Companies don't keep their Customer Service dept informed on 'Marketing Campaigns' Most CS depts have high turnover, people get stressed out quick & leave for another job. And to go a step further, alot of companies hire 3rd parties for Customer Service so they don't have to provide expensive benefits packages..

CS reps are trained on how to take orders, give store locations, but mostly they deal with complaints (about 90% of all phone calls).. People complaining about something (bike problems, problems with dealer, problem getting parts etc). So go ahead call and ask about a "Guns N Roses" commercial rofl rofl, I guarantee you the CS rep will have no idea what you're talking about.

Your right...that is why I bypassed them and went to the marketing department.

it's like you guys think this is a guns n' roses commercial.  shit, there's people even people saying that the commercial is going to debut during the AMAs tonight.  i can't beleive how many fucking rumors and lame ass hypothetical situations we've been getting posted here during the last 6 months.

Yeah no I completely understand that. I just mean in terms of people freaking out about calling them and asking them questions. Look as long as your polite and reasonable about it and groups of people don't go abusing them or whatever, there's no reason why they can't take your enquiry out of interest. I know it's not a GNR ad, its a ad for Harley's product, but they have to expect curiosity like this.

what time are the AMAs on? I'm not thinking something will happen, and probably won't watch, just out of interest.

If anything it would air during Thursday's football games. Award shows like the AMA's get more of a female demo, not really who Harley Davidson's targeting.? no

(Not saying I believe it'll air during the games, just more likely than the AMA's)

But to answer your question, I think they start around 8pm EST.

if H-D is getting calls from GNR fans about a song in a commercial, they may consider the GNR tie-in a success already...

How many Aerosmith fans called the Gap or Target HQ when Steven Tyler and Joe Perry appeared in a commercial? Smiley

Actually it'd be a failure so far.. because the staff they're paying to answer phones is busy talking to people asking a GnR commercial instead of actual/potential HD customers. So they're in the red already. Let alone, not many people buying HD cycle's as a result of the campaign they shelled out $$ for.

I just spoke to the markeing department at Harley.? She said the "better" version was planned to run but is now up in the air.? She would not say why.

She did say that it is "in the works to go back up but she did not know when."

That's all I got.

I call 'Bullshit' on this one... You can't just call up Customer Service and ask to be transferred to Marketing (I've worked in both departments for a large corporation). Secondly, Marketing people do not speak to outside callers. They'd simply hang up on anyone who called in.? (Especially not release internal information)

Nice try chief!!

Well I have lots of experience in phoning huge corporate companies and being asked to be put through to marketing depts - and they simply transfer you.  I think you shouldn't shoot someone down based on experience you have.  Every company works differently.

Doesnt that contradict the "you might just walk into a record store and see it" remarks....

How much notice they gona give us.

November 28th along with the 21st was one of the two most discussed possible release dates... and now it seems November 28th is gona be a no show too....

Merck was being sarcastic. What he probably means is that they arent going to announce the album's release date way ahead of time.  They might just announce it like a week or two before it comes out.

But who knows if they are even planning on releasing it this year now.

I'm starting to think he'll say anything as long as it buys the band time.

If they told you the Commercial will air at  11/25/06 at 404pm on Fox network how many of you nerds would skip school, work, or whatever to be home and watch it? or set your TiVo to record it?

Who the fuck cares if it airs... You can see the comercial on youtube.com anyways.

and if you think that the commercial is going to give you the answers to when this stupid album is going to come out, your wrong. it wont.

I agree with some of this. I'm still not sure why alot of you have to get so hostile with each other over it, but I agree with the overall thought.

I mean, if the commerical airs w/ Better in it I wouldn't expect much to change except maybe finally get some word of mouth going about new GNR music amongst somebody other then us.
