I just spoke to the markeing department at Harley.  She said the "better" version was planned to run but is now up in the air.  She would not say why.

She did say that it is "in the works to go back up but she did not know when."

That's all I got.

I call 'Bullshit' on this one... You can't just call up Customer Service and ask to be transferred to Marketing (I've worked in both departments for a large corporation). Secondly, Marketing people do not speak to outside callers. They'd simply hang up on anyone who called in.  (Especially not release internal information)

Listen don't go there.  I have worked in advertising for many years.  They have a in house marketing dept.  I got switched to the main switchboard and asked to be transfered to the in house marketing dept.

This is ridiculous. ?I know this post will go bye bye soon, because I have defied the censor Gods, but screw it. ?I love this band. ?I come to this forum everyday, I have been to 3 concerts this year and will be at Cleveland Friday for my 4th show. ?So I'm not some internet fan who sits behind his computer and bitches about the setlist. ?I love the fact that GN'R are out and touring, the November 3rd show was one of the greatest nights of my life.

All I'm asking is for some communication. ?We're told that the board is on lockdown out of "respect" for GN'R and management. ?Well that respect is only going one way. ?We wait months at a time for some official word only to receive vague answers that beg even more questions. ?I love this band, but I wish they'd be normal to some extent and communicate what's going on. ?Their silence isn't helping the fans or the album out any. ?Instead they're becoming even bigger jokes because hundreds of rumors exist and you're forced to just roll your eyes. ?

It was said by many including myself that Axl never said when CD was coming out, so we can't blame him for the years of delays. ?But that isn't true anymore. ?He finally did tell us that 2006 was the year, even after Merck said 2005. ?I defend this band on a constant basis, play the music for anyone who will listen. ?But I'm tired of looking like an idiot to every person I know. ?It's almost my normal greeting anymore "Chinese Democracy come out yet? ?chuckle chuckle." ?

I know I'm expressing the same feelings that others have. ?And it's really hard, because on one hand I love this band and its music but on the other I'm tired of being mislead. ?It's still possible for the CD to come out this year, but any marketing campaign they do launch immediately will be laughed at and dismissed just like anothe rumor. ?You can only cry wolf so many times.

I agree too, but I'll put my two cents in to maybe make you feel a little better.

First; I believe Axl's word this time. So much so, that I think he would PERSONALLY pay what ever it takes to rush the album into stores before Christmas. (Even if the September recording sessions slowed down the time line... which has NEVER been confirmed)

Second; Don't let the idea or the usual promotion methods shatter your illusions of a 2006 release. This band hasn't needed it for the tour (SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND PEOPLE IN EUROPE!), and I don't think they'll need it for the album. Besides, if he releases the album with little or no promotion at first (then it kicks in later), you can sit back knowing that he released it for YOU... the fans who pay attention and wait with anticipation.

So I don't know about you, but I LIKE the idea of walking into a record store knowing the new Guns album is sitting on a shelf, and the usual "Wal Mart" music fans have to wait for an advertisement or a giant display in a store to smack them in the face. I (we) get to hear it first.

People stopped believing me a long time ago in regards to the album release. The absolute highpoint was when I played them a copy of the demos and they were pretty hyped, but now they just laugh at me. Three cd stores that I go into in the city, when they see me especially when I'm wearing the GNR 2002 tour shirt they say "so wheres your chinese democracy kid" and just chuckle.
I hope for the day that will change.

On topic though, seriously there's no reason why people can't call their customer service department and ask questions. Companies don't keep their Customer Service dept informed on 'Marketing Campaigns' Most CS depts have high turnover, people get stressed out quick & leave for another job. And to go a step further, alot of companies hire 3rd parties for Customer Service so they don't have to provide expensive benefits packages..

CS reps are trained on how to take orders, give store locations, but mostly they deal with complaints (about 90% of all phone calls).. People complaining about something (bike problems, problems with dealer, problem getting parts etc). So go ahead call and ask about a "Guns N Roses" commercial , I guarantee you the CS rep will have no idea what you're talking about.
