Blabbermouth.net has picked up this story but never mentioned the arranged ride. People there love to bash Axl and they are...it would be nice if someone who posts at Blabbermouth.net would add this information.

BB has some contacts with Merck. How he got that story I don't know. But just because this is a positive story on GNR you choose not to believe this. Pfff!!!!!
It has to do with it being posted on a forum, that is why I didn't believe it off the bat. It has nothing to do with it being positive or negative. So keep your childish comments to yourself.

I don't think SLC was negative about GNR stealthly doing its fans great favours. He was just skeptical about the source.
Yeah me either can't get why the negative comments in this thread.
No need to be too hard on the woman. Not every GNR fan is informed or alert. Her frustrated comments were used by the critic but her enthusiasm for the show is doubtless shown there. That made the band grant her her wish, IMO.
Someone tell her who was behind the support she got.
The band really cares. GNR loves you.

Disabled GNR fan gets ride
By GREG GUY Entertainment Editor
Mary MacDonald?s dream of seeing Guns N? Roses was to be fulfilled on Monday night.
"I got a drive to and from the concert," the happy Halifax woman said Monday. "Kevin, the owner of Need-A-Lift, offered to take me there and pick me up."
MacDonald, who is confined to a wheelchair, thought her hopes were dashed when she found out the band didn?t go onstage until after 11 p.m., meaning the concert would get out between 1 and 2 a.m. and her original transportation, Access-A-Bus, would have ended its run.
When MacDonald called Need-A-Lift on Sunday to book a ride, she was told they ended their service at midnight.
After a story appeared in The Chronicle Herald on Monday, several people offered to take MacDonald to and from the concert, using their own cars. But MacDonald, who gets around in an electronic wheelchair, said she has to ride in a van with a ramp.
She said she also had a call from Ralph Williams, manager of operations at Trade Centre Ltd., who offered to get her to and from the arena, but she explained she needed a special van.
By 5 p.m. Monday, MacDonald had all but given up hope of seeing her favourite band. She said the Metro Centre offered to refund her ticket, which she was happy about. But she got the news around 5:30 p.m. that Need-A-Lift was coming to pick her up.
The Guns N? Roses online message board was also filled with MacDonald?s transportation dilemma, one suggesting that the band?s management should offer to get her to and from the concert.
One e-mail sent to The Chronicle Herald?s entertainment department, believed to be from the band?s management said: "Guns have personally suggested she be transported to and from the concert. . . . Guns want to give people a real rock n? roll ?70?s night out. Back then people never slept. Late nights and a good time were always on the menu. At the same time, though, they are sensitive to people?s requirements."

I posted this article a few days ago in this thread already. That wouldn't be Jarmo being a lazy poster?
Does it mean GNR funded the ride or Need-A-Lift?

Sorry. Somebody was asking why the press isn't following the story up with the ending so I figured we should bring it up again.

I dont think its ethical to use these sort of things for promotional purposes.
its something u2 (or madonna) would use to promote them selves.

Only "GNR fans" would bitch about the band doing something great for someone who can't walk.
Only "Gagarin" can find any bitching about the band doing something great for someone who can't walk.
Read the thread, there's tons of bitching about "blah blah, special treatment!"...
Edit: In fact, it was you!!!

No one used the words "special treatment".? And no one is bashing the band.? All Axlative, myself, and a few others did was mention that the fan in question should've done her homework
before
she bought a ticket to the concert.
If this story did not involve a handicapped person -- if it was just some kid with no car who was pissed off because he didn't bother to find out that (a) the concert would end late and (b) the city bus would stop running before the concert ended
before
he bought a ticket -- would you feel sorry for the person?? Maybe a little; maybe you'd think, "Bummer for him."? Maybe not at all; maybe you'd think, "What a dumbass!"? In any case, if GNR gave him a lift, you'd think, "That was nice of them."
No one thinks GNR and Need-A-Lift didn't do a good thing in this situation.? Some of us have simply pointed out that they never would have had to if the fan at the center of all this had used her head.

I have met ghetto kids who Steven Tyler can call out by name.
I work with the disabled that when it rains they change their clothes in a stall a government mule would rebel against.
When the disabled arrive at work soaking wet from a rainstorm they do more work than their mangers do all day.
I wonder would I carry them down from the thirtieth floor of where I work in an emergency? Am I lying?
Would the corporation? Would the band? Would the industry? Would you? Remain in the face of chocking smoke?
Are you obese, alcoholic or do you smoke or do drugs?
Do you wish they would al go away from your philanthropy?
How Hitler?. You Beautiful disease
I say, I live, I breathe, I am, wouldn?t want you to be less?. Et tu?
Can you find a flaw? I am sure with your viper skill Sunday school skills you will find away.
Put the beast on the table carve it up and answer honestly. Otherwise you are a lie?
I?m an outlaw baby?down in Folsom?s prison....
The question of your what your Chinese democracy represents remains on the table?.
Of what you are and what we hope you are despite all your shallow indications.
I remain hopeful but would never walk a step into your backstage mess.
