I'd ask Frank what his all time favourite band is and why.

frank loves sabbath, dio!

you'd be surprised how your mind freezes up when you're around them. the last thing you wanna do in a social situation is ask them questions

That's very true. The only question/questions that come to mind are the ones you know they don't want to answer, or the ones YOU don't want to have to be the one to ask! Smiley

When I came up with my Frank question (how many tracks recorded on ChinDem), I spent some time thinking about it while standing at a table near-by... before I went to greet him.  ok

Either your mind freezes up or you start babbling nonsense.  hihi   That's why my (serious!) answer to this question was to ask, "Hi, how are you," (just like you would ask any "normal" person you meet) and let conversation proceed from there.

Now, if the situation were not a face-to-face meeting, but something like a radio call-in show or a press conference, I would probably ask Axl, "When is Chinese Democracy going to come out, really?", and I would probably ask any of the other guys, "How does it feel to be a part of one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time?"

I also phrased the question as a conspiracy joke. "Is it REALLY top secret as to how many tracks you recorded for the album?"

Yep, much easier to say "Hey Frank!  All out of Sambuca at the bar, do you want a shot of whatever the fuck this is that the barmaid just made?"   beer

Or

"Am I ghetto enough?"

Yep i can relate to the mind freezing up section, whats best is when they tell you things without you having too ask, i mean there is no way that you ask "so axl, whens the album coming out" you just stand there and shake Eh Martin

I'd ask them if it ever gets frustrating working for someone who won't release an album, if it ever makes them feel like what they are contributing is pointless.

It's all perspective. Having money means paying lawyers ALLOT of money. Being famous means you can't go to the mall and hang out anymore. I've had 20 years to think about that and I'm sure it's a mixed blessing.  Undecided
