but I would love to ask the new band how much the old band comes up in discussion... either in studio or on tour. What they think about Slash and Duff in particular (seems like we already know that they love Izzy). Do they respect their accomplishments? Is the old band something they try to run away from... or be better than... or just try to continue on, etc.

Not sure why exactly... but that question fascinates me.

I acn answer that. ?Axl mentions the old band guys in general discussion. ?He doesn't talk negatively about them, and happily talks about them around the current members. ?I'm sure he feels comfortable talking about the old band, especially when he's just sold out MSG with the current line-up.

i think we're BOTH right. im serious though, OK players dont wanna be shown up by awesome players (for the record, i dont think BBF is awesome. BH was magic, BBF is ok, i dont like his shredding style, or anything he does really....i did like BH's shred though....at this point, i much much MUCH prefer Robin and Fortus)

Look, i like robin's playing and style, but he's not an awesome player. but u dont need to be awesome to be magical, and that middle solo on TWAT is magical! So again, im not coming down on Robin, i love him and Axl together, but he's not an awesome players. but if anything, thats even MORE of a credit then to his creative energy and feeling behyind is playing!!

If you've read any of my past posts, i never really mention BBF. I dont wanna say anything bad. I think he is a great great guy, and cool person, excellent communicator. BUT, i dont dig what he plays for GNR songs. I never get his improv solo's for GNR tracks, they never seem to have any direction....no start, middle, finish.....just notes...thats all i hear are notes being played. and thats cool, but if thats the case, i rather hear robin slam some nasty cool solo, or fortus show some nyc guitar skill, than hear regular notes.
