SLAM DUNK!!!

« on: November 17, 2006, 10:30:22 PM »

First let me say that I am VERY computer illiterate so I hope I can explain the problem so I'm making sense.? Embarrassed

Almost every time when I first try to access the internet and also when I try to access a different screen, I get a "connectivity" error message page.? On that error page it gives me a choice to have windows "diagnose" the issue but when it does it says that there is NOT a connectivity problem and when I refresh the webpage or whatever the internet comes up fine.? confused

I access the internet through a cable connection and there doesn't seem to be a problem with their end.
I removed the "yahoo tool bar" from my programs because somebody told me that might be the problem but the problem is still happening.? Also, I have Norton anti-virus so I don't know if it has something to do with that.

Is there a setting or something that I can adjust to fix this?

I'm really regret that I downloaded IE7.? Undecided

Not that it helps but I am having issues with it too and no it has nothing to do with your connection.  Most times it works fine but sometimes I get the same message as you.  I am thinking it is probably just buggy being new.

Here is a troubleshooting page from Microsoft-

Not that I wish you or anyone else these problems but it's good to know I'm not the only one having them.

Thanks for the troubleshoot link, Bandita.? Smiley

I second the Firefox recommendation ... since I downloaded Firefox I've almost never used IE again.

mouse gestures
speed
standard complient
light
has everything firefox has, beforehand and without having to add memory-using extension
works on any platform (windows, linux, mobile - i have opera mini on my mobile it's amazing - nintendo ds, nintendo wii)
stable
nicknames for pages

it's just better. and way less heavy for your pc.

Thanks for the help.

Question about downloading opera or firefox ... After I download one of them, should I "remove" the IE7 from my computer?? or can I download one or both of them and still leave the IE7 there so I can try them out to see which is better (read "easier") for me to use?

Edited to warn those of youze who have IE7 that if you take too long to think n' type what you wanna say, then when you hit the "post" button that's when you get that "connectivity" error message page too.? And whatever you do, DO NOT hit the "refresh" button or it deletes what you just typed.? Sad

You shouldn't have any problems. If you do, you have online support 24/7 here. hihi

I actually began to use Opera when I downloaded IE 7 Beta a few weeks ago, and a friend of mine who's a computer geek told me how much it sucked and pointed countless bugs, so he said I could try Opera. I did, and now I'm in love with it. love
