4/14/2012. MAKE IT HAPPEN.

« on: November 09, 2006, 02:04:37 PM »

This was an observation I had at last night's Worcester show. Not one single piece of merchandise that I saw had the words 'CHINESE DEMOCRACY' printed on it. If the album really is around the corner, wouldn't GN'R and management want to tie-in the merchandise to it?

Furthermore, the opportunity was there for Axl to say to the fans, "This is a song from our new album", before launching in to any of the four songs allegedly on the new disc. The reaction was lukewarm at best when a new song was played, mainly because the die-hard fans were the only people who knew them. This gives me the impression that 'Chinese Democracy' is still not ready, and will be out later, rather than sooner.

Am I wrong here?

Chinese Democracy will arrive in 2007...

« Reply #3 on: November 09, 2006, 02:09:24 PM »

I see the point he's making though.. a simple "This is one of the new ones.. hope you enjoy" or something for those that haven't a clue as to what they're playing would probably help..

Even though it's called the "Chinese Democracy" tour, doesn't necessarily mean much when the average run-of-the-mill fan doesn't have any clue what it means..

It was called the "Chinese Democracy" tour in 2002, as well.

When I was singing along to Chinese Democracy at the NJ concert the people 2 rows in front of me were looking around confused, then they saw me singing and they looked even more confused, like "what the fuck is this?".

Also the new songs get half the reaction as the old songs..  I think Axl should introduce them, but hey, I know them, so it doesn't really matter to me.  To the casual fans it kind of sucks though.

people seemed to like them as much as you can like a new song at a concert. i remember hearing about how the first time led zepplin played stairway people were like 'okay, uh, play the good stuff.' of course, to a lot of us songs like madagascar and the blues are oldies. i've got fond college days memories of those songs.

The crowd wernt singing to better at birmingham, but Jarmo might be able to back me up. The crown was mad for it.

I think the crowd can see the bands huge energy in that song and start jumping

I assume by "not one single piece of merchandise" you're not counting all the shirts they've been selling that say "Chinese Democracy Tour" on them?

What shirts have you seen? I haven't seen a single bit of merch that says 'Chinese Democracy' on it either.

My guess, is that like 2002, just in case... we don't want to get fooled a second time. It'd look awfully embarrassing to have two seperate failed 'Chinese Democracy' World Tour's four years apart from each other.

None at last night's Worcester show, dude. Had there been something, I'd have bought it.

Your right dude. Nothing from Europe or in North America so far has said anything about Chinese Democracy.

2002 maybe, but not 2006.

How about a T-shirt or poster with a group photo of all the band members? Where are those? Is the band lineup STILL not set?

I think it's got to do more with the fact band posters are kinda 'out' now in 2006.
