SEBASTIAN BACH Guitarist 'METAL' MIKE CHLASCIAK Issues Post-Tour Update - June 11, 2008

SEBASTIAN BACH guitarist "Metal" Mike Chlasciak (also of HALFORD, PAINMUSEUM) has issued the following update:

"Well, just crashed through the door [after touring with SEBASTIAN BACH], my Jackson flying Vs on my garage floor, I headed for a beer. Where am I ? home? And, where the hell have we been in the last three or so weeks. Seems like everywhere.

"As I wrote before, Australia was great, once again. I tell you these bastards know how to party and what die-hard fans they are.

"We had one hell of a time following Australia on our trek across Finland, Norway, Estonia and well what should have been Sweden's Sweden Rock [festival]. We hated to miss the Sweden Rock festival. Schedule, routing, delayed flights, who knows. I have played Sweden Rock festival three times, each time with a different band, it being HALFORD, TESTAMENT and SEBASTIAN BACH. Each time it was awesome and wished I had number four behind me, but best I can hope for is to see you Swedish metalheads soon.

"One of the most amazing shows on this tour and ones I have ever done took place in Estonia. Yeah, that country somehwere by Russia and Finland. We played inside the ruins of a thousand-year old monastary. Rock show inside ruins... I think we have a winner! Gorgeous country and great people, good beer and a whole unique vibe I have never experienced before. It took my breath. Partying until 5:00 a.m. next morning also took my breath, but that's a whole another story. Thank you.

"It was pleasure playing the tour with such talented musicians. Bobby [Jarzombek, drums], Rob [De Luca, bass], Johnny [Chromatic, guitar] all took care of business and Sebastian is singing his nuts off.

"I think fans have some good ass-kicking in store for the upcoming U.S. tour we are doing with POISON and DOKKEN."

Cause he obviously wants some good $$$ and exposure. You may not like Poison but they always have successful tours every year. Its a good move if he doesn't mind doing something he said he would never do.

I would've bought that if it was initially released in that form.  I already bought th CD though, and I think that's good enough for me.

Bach: No Velvet Revolver, May Work With Slash

Gary Graff, Detroit

Sebastian Bach has plenty of musical activity on his plate -- but joining Velvet Revolver is not part of the mix.

The former Skid Row singer, who was among the early names rumored to be taking Scott Weiland's place, tells Billboard.com that his close friendship with former Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose -- who sang on three tracks on Bach's 2007 solo album, "Angel Down" -- and a focus on his own music would making joining Velvet Revolver "awkward" at best.

But he did confirm that VR guitarist Slash did contact him "out of the blue ... to talk to me about working together, but it was not Velvet Revolver. It was a completely different project, and I can't tell you what it is 'cause it's mind-blowing, but I've been sworn to secrecy on that. But Nothing's happening right now with me and him."

Bach certainly has plenty to keep him busy until anything happens with Slash, though. He's preparing to re-release "Angel Down" as an FYE exclusive, packaged with a DVD that includes five live performances and a documentary titled "Road Rage." "People want more than just a CD these days," Bach notes, "and I have all this footage, so why put it out there?" He's also planning for the album's first British release on July 21.

And while he'll be on the road this summer with Poison and Dokken, Bach is also looking towards his next project -- which may include some songs written with Hatebreed's Jamie Jasta, who he's often identified as a current favorite in interviews.

"He's sent me four songs that I'm working on, and we definitely plan to work together in the future," Bach says. "I love the fist-in-the-air kind of anthem songs, and Jamie seems incredible at writing those kinds of songs, too."

Bach's other endeavor of late is the CMT reality show "Gone Country 2," during which he spent time in Nashville writing with Jermaine Jackson, 'N Sync's Chris Kirkpatrick and actors Lorenzo Lamas and Sean Young.

Bach, who was previously part of MTV's "Celebrity Rap Superstar" and VH1's "SuperGroup," is prohibited from talking about the results but says that the show will be "a lot of fun to watch -- a lot of mayhem, a lot of drunk arguments, only not from me this time."

AAM -- Rocklahoma is all about the party, that's for sure! Anyway, speaking of friends from the old days, on your latest album, we see that you worked a bit with Axl Rose, which was big, exciting news, and it looks like it went well for both of you. And then there was talk that you might get together with Slash and Velvet Revolver, but that hasn't happened yet. So since you're on good terms with both Slash and Axl, how is that going, do you ever feel that you're in the middle of some kind of "Guns N' Roses sandwich"?

Bach -- A "Guns N' Roses sandwich," dude! I'm in a "Guns N' Roses taco!" Well, here's something that neither Axl nor Slash even knows: about three months ago I was going to record with Sly Stone, of Sly and the Family Stone. I went to see them at Christmas in New York City. I've been a fan of his since I was a little kid, and I couldn't believe he was playing in New York, so I went to see him, and I got to be friends with some of the dudes in his band, and we had a recording session in L.A. that was actually going to happen, and I was going to pay for it, and I asked Axl, "Dude, would you want to sing with Sly?" And he said, "Yeah, if it's a real album, let me know when and where it is, and I'll come on down!" And at that time, Slash called me out of the blue. I hadn't talked to him in like three or four years, so I said, "I might be recording with Sly Stone -- would you be interested in playing?" And he said "Yes!" But then it happened that Sly wanted me to buy him a dog, a special security dog from an exclusive kennel and breeder, and it was this really extravagant purchase that I just couldn't swing, so the whole thing fell through. But I almost reunited Slash and Axl for the Sly Stone session, which was pretty mind-blowing, and it still might happen someday!

and there's that word again  hihi ..

SEBASTIAN BACH HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE COOLEST DOWN TO EARTH ARTIST THAT
WE HAVE EVER HAD A CHANCE TO SPEAK WITH.

SEBASTIAN: YO JOSH! HOWS IT GOING?

M4M: HEY SEBASTIAN WHATS GOING ON MAN? NICE TO HEAR FROM YOU. THIS IS A VERY EXCITING SUMMER FOR YOU. WHATS
GOING ON WITH THIS LIMITED EDITION "ANGEL DOWN SET"? WE HEAR IT IS WILD!

SEBASTIAN: YES I DO! IT IS A LIMITED EDITION VERSION OF ANGEL DOWN WITH A DVD. THE DVD IS CALLED ROAD RAGE AND IS A
MAKING OF THE CD "ANGEL DOWN" AND ALSO FIVE LIVE SONGS FILMED ON THE GUNS & ROSES TOUR IN 2006 ALL SHOT VIDEO
AND PRO TOOL AUDIO. VERY HIGH QUALITY CONCERT FOOTAGE. IT IS GOING TO BE A FYE EXCLUSIVE AT ALL FYE STORES AND FYE
WILL ALSO HAVE A BOOTH SET UP AT THE POISON SHOWS AND WE ARE DOING 47 SHOWS OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. YOU CAN
COME TO THE SHOW AND I WILL BE TRYING TO AUTOGRAPH AS MANY DVD'S AS I CAN AT EVERY SHOW.

M4M: OH MAN THAT SOUNDS AWESOME! NOW THE LABEL THIS RELEASE ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL "ANGEL DOWN" IS OWNED BY
YOU CORRECT OR HOW DOES THAT WORK? PARTNERSHIP THERE?

SEBASTIAN: I DON'T OWN IT FINANCIALLY HOWEVER IT IS MY LABEL CREATIVELY.

M4M: OH MAN WE ACTUALLY CAUGHT YOU LIVE AT EDGEFEST LAST YEAR AND YOU TORE IT UP!!

SEBASTIAN:  OH MY GOD DUDE THAT WAS A CRAZY SHOW.  ON THE DVD ROADRAGE THE PART WHERE I SMASH THE ACOUSTIC
GUITAR IS ON THE DVD.

M4M: THAT IS AWESOME. MAN THAT WAS SUCH A GREAT SHOW. I STILL TALK ABOUT IT ALL MOST A YEAR LATER NOW. NOW EVERY
SHOW YOU DO HAS THE SAME ENERGY LEVEL THOUGH DOES IT NOT?

SEBASTIAN: MAKING THE DVD AND WATCHING THE FOOTAGE I KICK ASS LIVE!!

M4M: YOU DO! YOU CAN SAY THAT BECAUSE YOU DO BRO!

SEBASTIAN: THERE IS SO MUCH ENERGY COMING OFF THE STAGE AND IT IS EXCITING. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS BUT WHEN THE
SHOW STARTS IT IS FUCKING EXHILARATING. IT GETS MY HEART GOING AND I CAN'T REALLY WATCH MY CONCERT FOOTAGE AT
NIGHT BECAUSE I GET SO FUCKING WOUND UP SO I DO IT DURING THE DAY SO I CAN WIND DOWN. THE BAND IS REALLY GREAT. I
CANNOT WAIT FOR YOU TO SEE THE DVD IN YOUR LIVING ROOM SURROUND SOUND. IT IS JUST REALLY HIGH QUALITY FOOTAGE.

M4M: OH MAN I AM STOKED JUST THINKING ABOUT IT! I LOVE THE SURROUND SOUND IT IS A MUST!

SEBASTIAN: I AM LIKE A FUCKING VIDEO AND AUDIO HOUND. THE REASON THAT I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THIS DVD
IS THAT IT WAS ALL SHOT DURING THE GUNS & ROSES TOUR. AXL ROSE HAD A FULL PRO TOOL RECORDING RIG AT THE SOUND
BOARD WITH A SEPARATE PRO TOOL ENGINEER WITH A 5 CAMERA PRO SHOOT CAPTURING ALL HIS CONCERTS. SO ONE NIGHT I
JUST ASKED HIM "YO DUDE CAN WE BORROW YOUR SHIT' (laughing) I HAVE LIKE 40 SHOWS ON THE BIG CLUNKY BETA FORMAT
THAT I HAVE HAD FOR YEARS AND SOME DAY HOPE TO PUT OUT A FULL SHOW, BUT ROADRAGE IS ALL NEW MATERIAL. IT CAME
OUT GREAT SO I AM SO EXCITED.

M4M: WELL NOW YOU AND AXL HAVE BEEN FRIENDS FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND HAVE COLLABORATED ON EACH OTHER'S
ALBUMS.

SEBASTIAN: HE SINGS THREE SONGS ON "ANGEL DOWN" WITH "LOVE IS A BITCH SLAP", "STUCK INSIDE", AND "BACK IN THE
SADDLE". HE HELPED OUT SKID ROW BACK IN THE OLD DAYS IN 1991 WHEN HE TOOK US OUT ON THE USE YOUR ILLUSION TOUR
AND NOW HE TOOK MY SOLO BAND OUT IN 2006-2007 AND TOOK US AROUND THE WORLD. I COULD NEVER EVER REPAY HIM FOR
HOW MUCH HE HAS HELPED ME OUT. THE FACT THAT EVERYONE WAS WAITING FOR HIM TO PUT OUT CHINESE DEMOCRACY AND
HE COMES OUT AND MAKES HIS RETURN ON SEBASTIAN BACH'S SOLO ALBUM. THINK OF HOW COOL THAT IS FOR US AS A BAND.
WE ARE REALLY PROUD OF THIS CD. WHEN WE PUT OUT THIS CD AND YOU STICK IT IN AND HEAR AXL ROSE SCREAMING AT THE
TOP OF HIS LUNGS. THAT IS KIND OF COOL TO HAVE!

M4M: OH MAN FOR SURE IT KICKS ASS!

SEBASTIAN: I HAVE ALREADY ASKED HIM ABOUT THE NEXT CD. YOU KNOW SOMETIMES I SEE THE COMMENTS ON THE INTERNET
LIKE BLABBERMOUTH AND ONE OF THE COMMENTS THAT I READ BECAUSE I AM WORKING WITH JAMEY JASTA OF HATEBREED FOR
THE NEXT ALBUM WAS "SEBASTIAN WILL NEVER TOP ANGEL DOWN" WHEN ARE PEOPLE GONNA LEARN THIS IS WHAT I FUCKING
DO? LIKE I AM NOT GOING TO TOP ANGEL DOWN OF COURSE I AM THIS IS WHAT I FUCKING DO!

M4M:  THAT IS FUCKING INSANE MAN! I MEAN THAT'S WHAT YOU DO. YOU GO OUT THERE AND WRITE AND PERFORM. CHANCES
ARE YOU WILL TOP IT MAN.

SEBASTIAN: YOU KNOW I AM NOT GOING TO START SUCKING NOW! (laughing)

M4M: NOT ONLY DO YOU DO MUSIC MAN YOU DO EVERYTHING MAN! HOW THE HELL DO YOU FIND THE TIME?

SEBASTIAN: I DO T.V AND STUFF AND I BASICALLY LOOK AT IT AS A WAY TO PROMOTE MY MUSIC. THAT IS WHAT REALLY MEANS THE
MOST TO ME.

M4M: YOU KNOW THAT IS A GREAT WAY TO DO IT BRO. YOU ARE BEING VIEWED BY MILLIONS. YOU KNOW YOU SEEM TO BE AT A
POINT IN YOUR CAREER THAT YOU CAN HAND PICK WHAT YOU WISH TO BE A PART OF AS WELL.

SEBASTIAN: THAT IS 100% TRUE. I WOULD LIKE TO SMACK DR. DREW PINKSKY IN THE FACE FROM CELEBRITY REHAB BECAUSE HE
ASKED ME TO DO HIS STUPID FUCKING SHOW AND I SAID NO IMMEDIATELY THEN HE GOES AROUND AND STARTS USING MY NAME
FOR HIS BULLSHIT SHOW AND I THINK HE IS A REAL EVIL FUCKING GUY TO USE ME OR ANGELINA JOLIE OR WHOEVER ELSE HE
GOES AROUND TALKING ABOUT. MIND YOUR OWN FUCKING BUSINESS DR. DREW! MIND YOUR OWN FUCKING BUSINESS IS WHAT I
GOT TO SAY TO YOU.

M4M: THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO LIKE JUST LIKE TO RUN THEIR MOUTH'S AND START SHIT! I THINK HALF OF THEM HAVE
NO CLUE WHAT THE HELL THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT.

SEBASTIAN: IT IS THE WHOLE SCENE AND FOR THEM TO USE MY NAME FOR THEIR STUPID SHOW IS BULLSHIT AND HAS NOTHING
TO DO WITH ME. I AM DOING GONE COUNTRY 2 THAT I REALLY DIG COMING OUT ON THE CMT NETWORK IN AUGUST. THAT IS ALL
ABOUT MUSIC AND THAT IS WHY I LIKE IT AND THAT IS WHY I DO IT.  ANYTHING TO DO WITH MUSIC I DO BUT I DON'T DO FEAR
FACTOR AND STICK MY HEAD IN A AQUARIUM WITH A BUNCH OF SCORPIONS, EATING BUGS, AND JUMPING OUT OF AIRPLANES. I
LIKE MAKING MUSIC AND THAT'S WHAT I DO.

SEBASTIAN: SO YOU'RE IN ALBANY RIGHT NOW?

M4M: YEAH MAN JUST OUTSIDE OF THERE

SEBASTIAN: I CAN DEFINITELY SAY WE ARE PLAYING THE PNC CENTER IN NEW JERSEY AND JONES BEACH. IS THERE A CLOSER
VENUE TO YOU?

M4M: YEAH MAN YOU WILL BE PLAYING MOHEGAN SUN ARENA ON JULY 29TH IN CONNECTICUT

SEBASTIAN: AWESOME MAN YOU NEED TO COME OUT TO THE SHOW AND ROCK!

M4M: OH MAN YOU GOT IT! I WILL BE THERE AND IT IS GOING TO ROCK!

SEBASTIAN: AWESOME!

M4M: WELL YEAH MAN YOU ARE DOING THE SONGS WITH THE MAN THAT WRITES THEM AND PERFORMS THEM.

SEBASTIAN: YOU KNOW WEILAND GOT TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT AXL AND ME PROBABLY. HE GOT TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT IT
AND YOU CAN NOT REPLACE AXL ROSE YOU KNOW THAT FUCKING GUY HAS GOT ONE CRAZIEST, MOST AMAZING VOICES IN THE
HISTORY OF ROCK AND WHEN HE DOES SWEET CHILD OF MINE, AND WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE IT IS AN AWESOME THING TO
SEE, IT REALLY IS AND I HAVE SEEN IT A MILLION TIMES AND IT IS ALWAYS INCREDIBLE. HE IS THE BEST REALLY.

M4M: AXL DEFIANTLY KNOW'S HIS SHIT. THAT IS FOR SURE MAN!

M4M:: NOW A LOT OF CRITICS SINCE DAY ONE THROUGH OUT YOUR CAREER LABEL YOU AS THIS BAD ASS, DO WHAT YOU WANT,
DON'T CARE ABOUT NO ONE TYPE PERSON. YOU SEEM FAR FROM THAT JUST TALKING TO YOU.

SEBASTIAN: WELL PERFORMING IS A TOUGH BUSINESS. I GIVE A SHIT ABOUT PEOPLE AND I HAVE NEVER SAID THAT I DON'T GIVE A
SHIT ABOUT PEOPLE. THAT IS NOT TRUE AT ALL BUT I WILL NOT COMPROMISE MY ART AND I LEARNED THAT FROM MY DAD
ACTUALLY. I DO NOT LIKE TO PUT MY NAME ON SOMETHING THAT I DON'T THINK IS THE BEST IT CAN BE. THAT IS JUST THE WAY IT
IS BUT I CAN NOT BE THAT HARD TO WORK WITH IF I AM DOING BROADWAY IN 4 MUSICALS ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY. YOU WILL
LAST 1 WEEK DOING BROADWAY IF YOU WERE HARD TO WORK WITH THERE IS A LOT OF PEOPLE JUST WAITING TO GET YOUR GIG
ON BROADWAY. PEOPLE ARE JUST WAITING THEY HAVE A LIST FOR IT.

M4M: WELL THAT IS WHAT I WAS THINKING WHEN LOOKING OVER YOUR CREDENTIALS.

SEBASTIAN: THE THING IS I HAVE TO BELIEVE IN WHAT I AM DOING OR I DO NOT DO IT. THAT IS WHEN PEOPLE GET MAD AT ME AND I
DON'T REALLY CARE IF THEY GET MAD AT ME BECAUSE IF I PUT MY NAME ON IT LIKE ANGEL DOWN WITH THE LYRICS AND THE
COVER AND ART MY DAD DID IS JUST PERFECT TO ME SO I AM PROUD TO PUT MY NAME ON IT. THE ENDING OF SKID ROW THEY
WOULD GIVE ME THESE SONGS THAT I DIDN'T THINK WERE THE BEST SONGS THEY COULD BE OR PUT THE SKID ROW NAME ON IT
SO I WOULD NOT SING THEM. THAT IS WHEN THEY SAID YOU ARE OUT OF CONTROL AND HARD TO WORK WITH. I SAID NO I JUST
REFUSE TO SUCK.

M4M: I HEAR YOU MAN! YOU TAKE GREAT PRIDE AND PASSION INTO WHAT YOU DO.

SEBASTIAN: IF YOU LISTEN TO THE SKID ROW RECORDS WITH OUT ME AND THEN LISTEN TO ANGEL DOWN YOU WILL BE LIKE
WOW THESE ARE TWO DIFFERENT GROUPS. BACK IN THE LATE 80'S- EARLY 90'S WHAT WE ALL THOUGHT WAS A GREAT BAND
WAS THE SAME THING. NOW TODAY WHAT THEY THINK IS A GREAT BAND AND WHAT I THINK IS A GREAT BAND IS NOT THE SAME
THING.

M4M: WELL SEBASTIAN WE WILL LET YOU GO AND THANK YOU MAN FOR TAKING A TIME OUT TO SPEAK WITH US TODAY. IT TRULY
WAS KICK ASS!

SEBASTIAN: COOL MAN I WILL SEE YOU SOON! THANKS A LOT BUDDY

Alesia: He's Bach - ex-Skid Row frontman still young at heart

By age 21, singer Sebastian Bach fronted the hair-metal band Skid Row, sold millions of albums and enjoyed ample fame, debauchery and money. Skid Row's success was quickly crushed by grunge rock, but the band continued ? though it parted ways with Bach, now 40, whose angelic looks and soaring vocals gave him a broad-based solo career.

Bach made it to Broadway, did TV (including a recurring character on "Gilmore Girls" and many cringe-inducing cable specials and reality shows) and kept rocking.

The party doesn't end.

Or so it seems. The guy who sang "Youth Gone Wild" and "18 and Life" has the perspective of age, but the heart of a rock animal. He's wildly enthusiastic about opening Poison's summer tour, which stops at the Alliant Energy Center's Willow Island on Saturday.

And during a recent interview, I have never been called "dude" so much.

Bach, who is 6-foot-5, loves a big stage and the Poison tour pulls him from the casino/fair/club circuit back to the arenas and outdoor fests he played in Skid Row's heyday. He can't wait to perform.

"You don't feel any pain even if you're tired from the bus," Bach says, "or banged up from the night before." He gives a conspiratorial laugh to emphasize the latter comment. (Dude, I get it.)

He continues: "Once the lights go down, dude, that's probably my favorite feeling in the world ? or in the top two." There's another explosive laugh. Nudge, wink.

Just when I figure this conversation will spiral along at Beavis and Butt-head level, Bach turns reflective. He offers thoughtful respect for Robert Plant to record and tour with Alison Krauss. He apolgizes for two-decade-old mischief, including having once worn a homophobic T-shirt during Skid Row's peak. ("When I watch myself from that time period, it's like somebody else," he says.) And he wants so badly to have fans listen to music from his new album, "Angel Down."

"I'm doing the big hits. I love singing 'em, dude," he says. "But being a musician, I don't think it's healthy to just do songs from 20 years ago. That doesn't make sense. What's the next stop: Branson, Missouri?"

He raves about his Broadway experiences, having starred in "Jekyll & Hyde," and hints at more theatrical roles. He praises Guitar Hero for helping bring Skid Row hits to a new generation. And he marvels that country star Carrie Underwood covered Skid Row's biggest hit, "I Remember You," in concert throughout 2007.

"It's on YouTube. You gotta see it, dude. It's incredible," he says. "She's perfect."

(He's right. It's fascinating. Underwood handles the rock ballad almost identically to Skid Row's version.)

For now, he's eager to perform.

"I'm a lucky guy. I never take it for granted," Bach says. "I love nothing more than getting on a tour bus and doing 45 shows. I can't think of anything I'd rather do than that ? well, maybe one thing."

He laughs. Dude . . .

Reality TV brings Sebastian Bach back to center stage

By CINDY WATTS July 8, 2008

Sebastian Bach hasn't spent much time offstage since his ejection from rock group Skid Row in the late '90s, but the stages have changed.

The singer reinvented himself on Broadway in 2000, with lead roles in Jekyll & Hyde and the touring version of Jesus Christ Superstar, among others.

Next he embarked on a television career, his small-screen credits including Gilmore Girls and a collection of reality shows: VH-1's SuperGroup, MTV's Celebrity Rap Superstar (he placed third) and, come next month, CMT's Gone Country 2.

Tonight he's back in familiar territory, playing Sommet Center as part of Poison's Live Raw & Uncut summer tour. All of it, except the rock star part, came as a surprise to Bach.

"I've done four Broadway shows, and I never in my life pictured that ever happening," said the singer.

"That was way out of left field. (Jekyll & Hyde) really started the whole TV career and the Broadway career. I locked in and I sang the material for Jekyll & Hyde, and they really liked it. . . . They gave me the gig right there. I was like, 'Right on.' Everything I got is from my voice."

He took the acting experience he gained during the musicals and parlayed it into a reccurring role on Gilmore Girls. He also applied his newfound theatrical knowledge to his music, incorporating strings and piano on his latest album Angel Down, which includes several duets with Axl Rose.
Going country

As for the reality shows, Bach sees them as merely a way to promote his solo rock career.

"I did the celebrity rap show on MTV, and my first response to that was, 'No,' " he said. "When I first started out in 1988 in Skid Row, they played rock 'n' roll videos, and they still play them a little bit but nothing like they used to. Now they cast us in these shows, and I get to pick the ones I want to do, which I guess is good. I picked ones that are about music."

And yet the reality shows have had their downsides. A liquor-drenched episode of SuperGroup in 2006 left many viewers wondering if the singer had a problem with alcohol use. It was a learning experience, he said, and one that will not be repeated on Gone Country 2 ? at least to that degree.

"I discovered in that show that a little drinking goes a long way on television," he said.

"There's a time and a place for everything, and I learned that shooting a television show is not the time or place to get loaded. If you liked SuperGroup with me and Ted Nugent where there's a lot of drunken fights, you'll love Gone Country 2. It's not coming from me this time though. Well, maybe a little bit."

On the show, which debuts Aug. 15 on CMT, Bach and his housemates ? Irene Cara, Mikalah Gordon, Jermaine Jackson, Chris Kirkpatrick, Lorenzo Lamas and Sean Young ? live in a Nashville-area mansion for two weeks while they endure country lifestyle challenges and attempt to write hit country songs with some of Nashville's top songwriters. As in the first season, John Rich hosts the series.

"I get asked to do all these shows," Bach said. "I don't know why. I don't find it necessary to go on these shows and eat bugs or put my head in an aquarium with scorpions, but John Rich's show is a great show. I'm very proud of the three songs I wrote with my songwriters. That's really exciting for me. I got to room at Barbara Mandrell's mansion that's now owned by John's management, and Jermaine Jackson of the Jackson 5 was my roommate. Who thinks this stuff up?"
Back to rocking

So when Bach and his band arrive in Nashville today, the experience will be a bit of a homecoming for the New Jersey resident. He played country songs around Nashville as little as a few weeks ago, but he said it has been years since he's put on a full-fledged rock show in Music City. The last was at 328 Performance Hall, which closed in 2002. But fans shouldn't necessarily come to the show expecting to hear old Skid Row hits such as "I Remember You" or "Youth Gone Wild."

"Well there are no guarantees," he said. "I might do all old Skid Row songs. I might do none. I'm really proud of the new record, but at the same time if I'm playing a place as huge as Sommet Center, I want to give the greatest show I can. And I know there are certain songs people are coming to hear me sing, and I don't want to disappoint them. At the same time I have to sing what's in my heart. I live in 2008, not in 1988, and that's the way it is."

Bach rolling along with or without Axl

Posted Jul 09, 2008 @ 06:16 PM

With the help of a friend, Sebastian Bach has sparked added attention for his new album.

To be sure, "Angel Down," the first solo album since 1999 for the ex-frontman of Skid Row, stands up on its own pretty well. But when you get Axl Rose to lend his pipes on not one, not two, but three songs, you'll get rock fans to perk up their ears.

"I couldn't believe it," Bach says with a hard laugh. "The whole world has been waiting for him to record. And he picks my record."

Bach, who opens for Poison Tuesday, has been pals with Rose since the heyday of their former bands, when Skid Row opened for Guns N' Roses during 1991's "Use Your Illusion" tour. Last year, when Rose's latest GNR incarnation hit the road, Bach not only opened the shows solo but often joined Rose on stage to do "My Michelle."

Rose invited Bach to experiment further as a duet, as Rose continued with the 14-years-and-still-counting crafting of his "Chinese Democracy" album. They did a tune called "Sorry," which has been shelved for now - or, as Bach puts it with a chuckle, " 'Sorry,' as in, 'Sorry, I don't know when it's coming out.'"

Despite that disappointment, Bach doesn't paint Rose as eclectic as the music press. Rather, he calls Rose just a bit different than his peers.

"There's so many stories about Axl Rose: he's like Yoda from 'Star Wars;' they say he's hanging with (freaking) aliens," Bach says. "I wouldn't call him normal; that's not a word I would use. He's just a singer and musician who isn't interested in what the other musicians are interested in."

Shortly after collaborating with Rose, Bach went into the studio to put the finishing touches on his 14-track "Angel Down."

The album is a mix of contemporary active rock, with staccato drum machines pushing an aggressive backbeat on tunes like the title track and "You Don't Understand." But Bach, who was kicked out of Skid Row in 1996, hasn't forgotten those MTV glory days, as his current work sometimes harks to that era. The rocker "America Metalhead" sounds perfect for arena-rock fist-pumping, while "By Your Side" comes off as gently endearing as the Skid Row hit ballad "I Remember You."

"I love those old Skid Row albums, and I love 'Angel Down,'" Bach says. "I'm trying to do something that makes sense in your iPod. I want to do music that can sit next to "18 and Life" and "Monkey Business.'"

Bach is enjoying a nice upsurge. By the late 1990s, his career path pointed toward dive bars and county fairs, maybe even running the carnival rides at the latter. But, just before the advent of reality television, Bach reinvented himself as a performer on a different stage: Broadway. He had turns on the Great White Way in "Jekyll & Hyde" and "The Rocky Horror Show," then had the lead in the national touring company of "Jesus Christ Superstar."

He has been involved in numerous reality shows, and he has been filming "Gone Country 2" for CMT. The cast, which travels and battles to become country crooners, includes Jermaine Jackson, Sean Young and Lorenzo Lamas.
