Very
let own by the album.
I'm a huge Skid Row fan, and have been looking forward to Angel Down for a long time. And when listening to it I find it so underwhelming and I find myself bored in the middle of it.
Now Bach is great on it, he puts in a good performance. The problem lies with the music, particularly the guitars. Metal Mike did absolutely shit on this record. The guitars are so uninspired, unoriginal and brutally basic. It sounds like a high school band could have written more interesting riffs. Every song, apart from a few, end up sounding so similar, that if you were just listening to the music you wouldn't be able to tell the songs apart.
What shits me is that Bach has been working on this for seven years, and Metal Mike couldn't put in an effort to reflect that. What were they doing for that long? It sounds like each song was written in a few hours. The only real exceptions are You Don't Understand and By Your Side- interestingly enough, probably two of my favorite songs from the album.
The album could have been great if the music was a bit more interesting. Hopefully it'll grow on me, but there isn't much incentive to let it, the music was that dull.
Highlights include You Don't Understand, Love Is a Bitchslap and By Your Side. But I prefer the songs live, they have so much more energy than on the CD.
Axl was fun to hear, but nothing earth shattering.
Over all it's an average album at best, and that's being generous. And I put that down to the music.
Ditch Metal Mike. The album had potential, and the guy ruined it.

Got real stoned and heard the album. I got a question. Is "By YOur Side" about a child that passed away, or is it just about some dumb bith? "Cause if its about a child, that is some riviting deep shit. Fucking really deep. If its about a bitch, well. I like the album. Some of it.

Oh right! Damn I feel fucking dumb. Lol. I always miss the obvious shit. Its part of my psychosis. Well, I am glad to hear that regardless. Its a great track. Beautiful. Lyrics are probably the best on the album in light of the subject. Its very touching.

if ralph santolla was still i the band instead of metal mike
this cd would have rocked more..
the problem of this is cd.. are the generics riffs of the song and mediocre solos..
ralph santolla is amazing..
just hear him in the last deicide album.. the solos are incredible

Yeah, I stand by what I said too, it's a pretty great album song-wise, but really crappy uninspired solos throughout.

Those guitar players suck
I dont care about their pedigrees
The guitar playing on this album is dismal
I write better riffs than these guys.

Sebastian, Like Axl has such an amazing voice, that it really takes a special guitar player to play with them.

ok guys hear this song
http://www.lastfm.es/music/Deicide/_/The+Lord%27s+Sedition
is called the lord's sedition by deicide.. and the solo of excerpt is played by ralph santolla, the lead guitarist before metal mike.. if ralph would have played in AD.. the cd would be much better

I didn't think Angel Down's debut would affect him this much
Kidding aside, best wishes to Baz. Hope all is well.
