when the album does come out i wouldnt be surprised if merck comes to my house and takes the cd away from me rofl
At first I laughed when I read this, then I took a moment to consider the events of the past few months and all I could do was get this look on my face? Undecided ....and ask myself "Why am I not laughing anymore?"? ?

Well, now you made me do this rofl

A surprise CD release would be unprecedented and is highly unlikely.

However, as a FedEx employee I see CD's, video games, promo materials going priority overnight (by 10:30 am next day) all the time.

2 cases of CD's and a box of posters to every record store in the nation is NOT a huge task.

after all these years it makes perfect sense for him just to put it out in the store without any warning....i really cant imagine them having a normal release date or doing anything normal at all for that matter....makes sense to me

My guess is there will be no hullabaloo. No matter how awesome this album may be the reviewers will stay, "man it rocked! but 13 years?". So why build the hype?

In order to get over the whole 13 year thing, Axl should release albums every 6 months from now on for the next 5 years to show how hard he was working at making so much music. Then it would all make sense.

Well they say there are one or two additional albums that will most likely follow after the release of the initial cd so hopefully they will be in a short timeframe

Once again, people's comments and thoughts about the release of the album, hype, promo etc etc is all very valid and justified but as grog mug, savedsol, JohnSDMF stated, the thing has been so unconventional, so mysterious, so cryptic etc over the years that you can't imagine the release of the album will be as expected as the very first timeframe for release of the album was initially, following the release of TSI?.. I'd say this is going to come with either little, almost-no, or a sudden-blast-of promotion with no previous notice or confirmation..

The longer this thread gets, the more people will be counting down these next 14 days.

I wouldn't be suprised if we see some Guns n Roses posters popping up in about a week, like a teaser for the album. That's if the 21st IS the real release date. If not, I'm hoping something will be announced on the 21st, even if it is just the beginning of a week (PLEASE be just a week) long marketing campaign.

It'll probably come out the 21st in a cd case with full cover art, you open it up and instead of the CD it's a piece of paper saying NEVER BELIEVE WHAT YOU READ..there are still 5 tuesdays left.

That would piss off A LOT of people. It may even incite a riot at Best Buy!

LOL I would love that....  rofl rofl rofl rofl

Yesterday morning Martin Popoff sent me this:

No idea where it came from... I have nothing to do with it. Are you sure it just didn't scroll by rather than being taken down?

It appears like management got to them.

I'm guessing posts are being taken down on different sites because management has a plan to promote this thing with an element of surprise.  They don't want to ruin it by having the release date posted up everywhere....just have a little more "ppaaaatienncee" and everything will be alright.

the "surprise campaign" makes sense... think about how many people you've told "chinese democracy is coming out on xx/xx/xx."  I guarantee every one of them said, "yeah right!"  If gn'r did actually give an official release date, no one would believe them anyway!!!!  ok

I finally did. They reiterated that their two sources are very reliable, but that the label is being extra careful in case a couple more trips to the studio makes a significantly better album. So they, in turn, pulled the article since-- while it seems that the label expects to release on the 21-- anything can happen when the concept of time and GNR collide. (paraphrased... I have the e-mail at work)

"And if we had the track list or cover art, trust me, you would have seen it." (pretty sure this is verbatim; made an effort to remember it)

this still could happen because they did say suprise marketing campaign and supposedly the better ad is premering the 19th. It could be a coincidence but i hope not
