was just wondering what other guitar-virtuosos were in the closer selection when it came to finding a replacement for bucket; the thought came, when i found a drunken blues jam by an ex-bandmember i once had... if he was not from austria, but the states, would he have gotten any chance? listen especially to the second part of that improvisation... kinda cool, ha?

GNR wanted BH back, when they didn't get him they were recommended Ron, thats all there is to it. If Ron hadn't agreed we probably wouldn't have had a tour.

...waiting 15 years, somethings come to your mind... ?Wink

but really, i would like to know what other possibilities axl / gnr camp were discussing... and again: i really thought that my friend bob has the eperfect combination of blues driven playing and shredding-virtuosity... do yourself a ?favour and listen to that - especially the second part: it's dirty, it's fast and it's...influenced by hendrix, bach and gnr... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZseSo2Qrtpo ?
so if gnr need a 4th guitar player... give bob a call...

That guy is cool.

I can imagine him with a uitar just like the one Bublefoot had ok

I don't know any guitar virtuosos (what's the plural of virtuoso???) who would fit in the band. But then, I didn't think Bumblefoot would fit in either. But after Buckethead and Bumblefoot maybe someone who is called BUBBLELEG or BUMPYHAND ... just kiddin'  Grin

What if Slash didn't exist?

...we probably would not know gnr... but that's a different question...

as for now we participate in a gnr-world that equals a bunch of already prominent people, we might ask how this allstar line-up may have looked "if"...
we might also disuss what other choices were almost taken (for better or worse). it's not only about speculation. furthermore bumble in gnr kinda was a "last minute"-decission (cause gnr were auditioning guitarists before the new york gigs)...

My question was sarcastic. I don't hate Slash. I love his playing. I might not agree with some of the things he did, but hate is a strong word and I'd never use it for a GN'R member or ex-member...

I meant that there are no ifs and there shouldn't be any...

Slash exists and GN'R became one of the biggest bands in the world.

Bumblefoot exists and GN'R are touring the US right now.

Sorry, I just don't see a good reason behind this thread... Anyway, I'll let it be...

Well, I'm sure they would've found another guitarist. Del James said there were auditions in April or something looking for a new guitarist. What about John 5? There were a lot of rumours about him joining before the first Hammerstein show. And Michael Angelo Batio said he would "drop everything" if he was asked to join Guns (thank God he didn't)

yeah, thanx for that; joe satriani recommended bumble; anyone know if sartiani or steve vai were ever asked to join?

Damn, I thought this was going to be a philosophical debate like, " if Bumblefoot was playing guitar in the forest and there was nobody there to hear him, does he make a sound?"

I asked Bumblefoot how he got to be with GN'R and he said he met Axl through a couple friends and things went down from there.
So it's luck that BBF met Axl.
Just be happy he DOES exist.
He's an awesome guy. Humble, and cool.

Vai played for Whitesnake and DLR.  That would have kicked ass if he'd joined GNR.  Satch would have been another killer choice, but he's got far too much solo material to just drop it all to join a rock band.

For my tastes, I think Finck and Fortus are all that the band needs.  Don't get me wrong, I dig Bumble, but three guitarists is a bit much.  It should be just Finck and Fortus.  Plus Robin's way sexier Wink
