DX sez "Suck It!"

« Reply #20 on: November 02, 2006, 08:49:32 AM »

There is a certain programme airing tonight that will be shown to 1.2billion people worldwide. (Mtv Europe Awards) that would make a great place to announce a release date? ? ?ok

America is where it's important that the album sales, publicity-wise. So no, that's a bad idea, plus the fact they've got a show tonight, and they're no where near that award show.

This Never Happened, It's Just a Dream...

The Super Bowl has almost the Whole Country of America watching, if not for the game, it is for the great commercials. It has a great audience in Canada and a good audience in Mexico. Japan is starting to get into it too. For those unaware of the size of America, it is Bigger than Europe minus Russia. Most U.S. cities are bigger than some European Countries. To put things in perspective when New Orleans flooded it was the equivalent of London and Paris being under water. However those music awards would be great for them to make a TV appearance via satellite. BTW MTV does air the Europe awards like twice...

Only thing it says is we need this album now more than we ever did before.

We're now posting world maps in GNR threads.

Ok, a math lesson:

Chinese Democracy + Fans =  drool

But anyway, yeah - its not gonna happen. Especially since tonight's show looks like the worst selling show of the tour so far. You think they'd want to do a satellite feed from a near-empty arena in the first place?

I Rocked With Gn'R In Manchester & Sheffield '06

« Reply #25 on: November 02, 2006, 09:02:41 AM »

It wouldn't be worldwide since most Americans don't get any European programming..

Why would Axl leave out the band's home country WHERE THEY ARE TOURING NOW in order to please Denmark? Its not possible, and its not going to happen.

Hmm thats a good question, just as good as why would Axl leave out the bands home country to go and tour in Europe first..... hmmmmm ?Shocked

Things could happen in europe first which is proven by the successful tour.
Gnr are more accepted over in europe rather than the USA, hence the poor ticket sales upagainst nearly sold out arenas & shows all over europe.

Not everything that GnR does has to be given to the USA first..... Open your mind up to different possibilities.

I'm still trying to figuring out why you posted that map there for? Huh?

To finish up this geography detour this thread has taken, America is bigger than Europe, but Europe is made of 30 + countries. Add up the population of all the countries in Europe and we get at least twice as much as the population in America. This is not really the point.

On topic, I don't see it happening tonight. Axl could have a pre-recorded message with some kind of announcement, but IMHO, an announcement in front of a sold-out MSG would have write more headlines.

Point taken, but by the same logic, it makes just as much sense to say that Axl would need to make an announcement in the US first BECAUSE of the poor ticket sales. If Europe is more accepting of GN'R, then waiting an extra few hours before the announcement reaches them isn't asking alot.

Not arguing, just trying to make a point.

I don't think so.

Like said in the Vmas thread, a show for awards is not the best place for any other important announcement than of the winners.

Just wanted to clear up my post, when I wrote worldwide I meant that the cd would be in stores worldwide next week.

? ? Plus it wouldn't be like they are not announcing it to the fans in their home country it would be announced live at the show in Greensboro...North Carolina on home soil....and broadcast oversees. Hardly like it would be an anounncement in Bulgaria (not that there would be anything wrong with that).

? You know everyone wants the fuckin announcement and now some of us are having fun speculating that it could be announced in this fasion and people come and start bitching again, for fuck sakes

? wouldn't it just be awsome to get the damn date....can't we have a little fun... even if its a long shot.
Does everything always have to turn into this bullshit sort of I'm right - your wrong ?the facts are ?

we know nothing....I'm not from the U.S - I'm from Canada living in South America what the fuck do I care if the date would be announced wherever.

?Of course I'd have loved it if Axl and GNR announced the release date last year in June riding down Young Street in Toronto in a Caddy with the top down during the Stanley Cup Parade (The LEAFS win the cup for the first time after 38 years) but fuck that's like waiting for the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus to show up at my house with a bag of weed and a sled full of booze ready to have a party.

? I'd still be happier than shit if it was announced today at the show and live via MTV Europe

Cheers here's to the Easter Bunny and Santa you tight asses ?hihi ?

It wouldn't be a live satellite link anyway because of the time difference, it would have to be pre-recorded.

In that case why do non-award winners play there? People in the US please check your TV listings, is the European awards going out live? ?And also remember the 1991 MTV awards; GNR: Live and Let Die, recorded from Wembley Stadium.

I doubt the release date would be announced in Greensboro, North Carolina regardless..

If they're not doing a press release beforehand, there's only one show it makes sense to announce the release date at, and that's the Madison Square Garden show.

If we're going by the "forbidden" topics on this site, then management has surprises lined up for the promotion of this album. We're 5 days away from this supposed release, and have you see any promotion yet? Because I sure haven't..

Yeah but with all the rumors of a "suprise" coming up for a certain concert I'd bet on MSG as the recipients.  And a release next Tuesday would fit in rather nicely for the NY concertgoers.

Chinese Democracy Starts When?

« Reply #36 on: November 02, 2006, 10:40:31 AM »

Please forgive me if this has been discussed before.

I don?t understand something, why would Axl Rose release Chinese Democracy, which is his big comeback album with no prior promotion? This just doesn?t make any sense. We?re supposed to believe that one Tuesday our local record store will have Chinese Democracy available with no prior advertising?

Something is not right with this rumor. I hope I?m wrong because quit honestly I can?t wait for the album.

Realistically the album will have to come out in 2007.

There is a certain programme airing tonight that will be shown to 1.2billion people worldwide. (Mtv Europe Awards) that would make a great place to announce a release date? ? ?ok

That is one of the most absurd things I have read in a while... First of all, like some one else mentioned, 1.2 Billion ??  I think not.  You may want to cut that down by about 99% and that would be a reasonable estimate.

Second of all... they are on a North American tour.  They are playing a show tonight.  There is no chance of there being a live broadcast from Greensboro, NC. to Europe with Axl announcing the release date of Chinese Democracy.

Third of all (this is my opinion), this is not a great opportunity to announce the release date.  I still think the 'best' opportunity would be in a live (or pre-taped) sit down interview on MTV.  Not in a magazine, not in a newspaper, and not at an awards show of any kind.
