leave the guy alone. at least its a legit question. its better than all the threads of people speculating. it fucknig tired of seeing threads about what people think will happen. i dont care. i think the board should keep it to news, questions and updates and rumours. or at least start a entire section for speculation.

same here

to be on topic i really dont know why he start so late, and really dont care hihi

another thing...WTF is wrong with forum members over here?? , so Del James writes an article and everybody changed opinions ?

I agree w/ you regarding Del... I think he should take it easy on the "internet-connected" as we are actually the ones going to all the shows.

I simply expect GNR (and most bands actually) to come on late... it doesn't bother me... but I don't think Del needs to bitch-out an entire segment of fans either.
Die-hard fans like to discuss and speculate... that's just the way it is.

This is why the GN'R online community is so bogus. The guy asks a question and gets flamed for "bitching" and apparently he doesn't deserve to know and should just be happy they play. Give me a fuckin' break.

well i remember seeing them in 91 3 nights at the garden and those shows didnt start until midnight or there abouts. hammerstein shows after 11:00 p.m. and vegas was the same. so everyone knows gnr goes on late, you just gotta live with it or dont fucking go to the show, it's simple.

i have the same opinion
but its unbelievable how many people here and in another boards used to be bitching a lot about the shows starting late, and then totally changed opinion after what del james said
to speak a piece of mind, if guns n roses tour southamerica i really prefer they show up like 11 PM, because you cant just go home after a GNR gig, you gotta go out have some fun, go to a bar ?beer

but its not necesary to bash the guy when he is asking a valid question, dont know the answer, probably "Axl likes to do it that way" is the most certain answer ?ok

While there's absolutely no need to bring up a VR comparison, the two times I saw them in Sydney last year they came on late. Not midnight like GN'R, but still late.

As for why Axl comes on late, back in the UYI days, didn't Axl have some thing about getting himself in the right frame of mind to do a show? I remember reading something about that. Maybe he's still like that now.

I think the posts in this thread explains a lot. If these people are what was meant as true fans, then that's pretty sad and embarrassing no

To answer the thread, according to Del its down and dirty Rock & Roll ala Zeppelin, and vocal excercises, yoga and chiropatric services.

im pretty close to quitting this board. just because the people on the board are pissing me off. the whining isnt too bad, people have the right to be upset, but it seems to get drawn out. then there is the speculation. im pretty sure gnr have proven they cant be predicted so what the point in trying. A few weeks ago everybody was talking about how the single would be out that week..and no. but still people speculate. Then somebody asks a legit question and everybody makes fun of him. second i agree about people changing opinions after what del said. when i was reading it i was thinking 'hes clearly talking about htgth so people know he reads it, so they will stop bitching and suck up'.

this is suposed to be a fan forum, not dawsons creek.

axl does not want to come onstage before he is mentally/physically ready to give his best performance possible...and there is no set time for that. ?it's like some of the extreme athletes. ?in surfing terms, you don't just drop into the 30 foot wave because it's there, you have to psych yourself up and know that you will go out there and conquer it.

i understand your point, but we all know he didnt mean it in any derogatory way. i was thinking its kind of intresting how 'gay' has become synomynous with 'stupid' or 'bad' or 'wrong'. I support gays/lesbians and i use the term in that way all the time.

I think Axl is just a night owl and like others have said, he needs to get his mind ready in order to start.

i warned everybody i talked to about the concert here that he will be late. i agree that people should expect it and if you dont like it, go home. but on the other hand, i think its alittle disrespectful of the audience. like where would axl rose be without the fans?  if he has to warm up, get to the arena earlier. he should know by now how long it takes to get ready.

i read something i think from sebastian bach (i refuse to call him baz...) where he said axl was really late once while skid row were opening and he ran into axl and asked where he was and axl said he was watching a basketball game....warming up my ass.

Well like Del James said, it's about vocal exercises, yoga, massage therapy... rock n roll  Roll Eyes

After hearing how pampered the band has to be before they can take the stage, and after hearing Better... Guns n Roses have turned emo.  hihi

Del James hit it on the nose when he said "who decides what late is?"... This is supposed to be a big fucking party... and what good party ends before midnight

I got a friend that is always late, so much so that we schedule shit around him. There is regular time and Dave Time, so if you want to get to someplace to meet at 11pm, you tell everyone 11pm EXCEPT Dave, you tell him to meet you there at 9pm, he will pull in around 10:55 or so. Never fails.

hello all. ?First time poster here.

I went to the Tampa show and the Estero Show. ?At the tampa show, Axl came on around 12, at the estero show around 11.

To answer the original poster's question, the best response I can say is that there are 2 opening bands, so between the 2 opening bands and the set changes, Axl and friends don't come out until all that is done. ?It's not that Axl is late, it's just that the other bands do their thing first, so Axl can't come on until after 11 or so, when it's time for the "main event". ?Maybe there should be only one opening act, but I think they are trying to give you more for your money with 2, so no complaints from me.

There are two ways of interpreting this:

1. ?I'm a die-hard Gn'R fan. ?I read every bit of news and reviews that are out there. ? I've been to more than 10 of their concerts, so I know that they will come on late. ?I've come to accept it. ?Not saying that I think it's right or wrong, but as a diehard, I KNOW.

2. ?For the casual Gn'R fan, (no offense to anyone) that Del James explanation is a load of shit. ?First of all, the casual fan probably hasn't read one press release. ?Doesn't go on the fansites. ?And the TICKETS say that the show starts at 8. ?I'm looking at my MSG ticket, and it doesn't say "Around 8," or "After 10," or anything like that (like it did in the early 90's). ?So how are concert-goers supposed to know? ?I've been to plenty of shows where I saw a band that I had no idea what they're saying in their press releases, or haven't read one review. ?And as far as the musicians "being prepared," come on; ?They couldn't prepare at 8 instead of 10?

-Just saying that there's no real right or wrong here. ? It all depends on how "into" the band you are.
