That area is not that bad....there are way worse in Manhattan.  Busy, yes, but what better way to see NYC?

While I don't live or work a block from that hotel I can say it's not exactly a quiet area..but it's in the city..that's the main key..

I live 45 minutes away on Long Island, so I go to the city whenever I want, which makes it even more special.  Grin

Right, but if you were a person coming from out of town you would want to be where the action is. ?It certainly wouldn't be my choice point for living though. ?I am used to my suburbs where I hear crickets, not horns and sirens. ?But I would certainly advise anyone else who is coming to actually see and feel the city to stay in the middle of the action. Okay, after reading the reviews of The Carter I have cancelled my reservation!

Just booked into the Chelsea Star Hotel.? I have a private room (although shared bathroom) and it was just $89 per night!!! Awesome!

Location is great too -? 300 West 30th Street, New York City, NY 10001

Damm! You must have booked the very last room available.  Undecided  There are still beds, but sharing with 7 other people. Now if I was going with somebody else, I wouldn't mind, but I'm going on my own, so, no way...

Anyway, I booked this one in the end:

To those looking for hotels, I stayed at the Hotel St. James at Times Square, it was decent enough and was about $130 a night.   Its just up the street from the port authority and you can take a subway from there to Penn Station and you'll be right there at MSG.

Flying into NY, I recommend Newark.   It was real easy.  Just took a train from there for 10 bucks and I was at Penn Station in 15 minutes.

I would so love to go to this show, but I just can't do it.   no   those of you going are in for something special.  smoking

Are you sure it's all booked out?  Did you try through the hotel directly?  http://starhotelny.com/reserve.php when I called them 13 hours ago they said there was plenty of availability.

Anyway, if you're also travelling alone then we should meet up for a beer etc - I need to find people to drink with!  When do you check in/out?  I'm staying from 8th-12th.

Maybe this should be PM's

Anyway, in answer to the people who were talking about the location of the Chelsea Star.  I spoke to a friend who lived iin NTC for two years and knowing my tastes recommended Chelsea as a good location.  I like to be somewhere bustling, noisy, fun busy, etc etc etc - so it sounds ideal.  The price is f**king great too! ok

Nothing like doing the tourist thing before the cocnert day.

I'll probably do the "another day in the city" situation.

I don't mind the noise as I've already tuned it out but sometiems it just cacches me off guard when those darn take out delivery bikes pop out of nowhere.

Nothing like the city..

Yeah, they've just emailed me back, all single rooms are gone. Anyway, the one I've booked is not too far. I'm getting there on the 9th, coming back on the 13th, and I'm definitely up for a beer! Or several? Smiley
