Can anyone else think of a situation where a band has toured this long without a new album that WASN'T a nostalgia tour?

The only ones I can think of are the Eagles, Kiss & The Who - but those are always "farewell tours".? This is supposed to be an introduction of a hot, new, rocking band on the verge of greatness!?

AC/DC releases a new album most of the time before the tour, and then they play 1 song from it live Grin

I disagree too.? The new songs fit right into the GNR catalog in my opinion.

How can you say that when slash played Bluesy based Rock solos and Ron plays shread? And Buckethead who was once in GNR is a shread master.

I am astonished - both by your complete cluelessness about guitar playing, and your inability to correctly spell the word "shred."

Yeah but Requiem has a point.  Other than Robin who's sound sometimes reflects a blues influence (which I love and allows for so much expression and emotion) the band's sound as a whole is something new and different.  The shred solos don't really fit into the GNR 87-93 canon.  I love the shred influence on the band and I feel like Bucket raised the entire band to a new level.  Its like Axl said about his approach to writing lyrics after the music has been written.  He said he wants the music to kick his ass so he is forced to raise his writing and singing to a new level to kick the music's ass right back.  Bucket came in and started kicking ass and everyone rose to the occasion.

Axl is touring to raise awareness of the government in China, not in support of an albulm. Tongue

Huh?? When has he ever said that?
