Well, I don't hate Scott........

But I think the general consensus is that Slash and Duff could do a lot better with a different lead singer. Then come the inevitable comparisons with Axl...

 Huh

I dont think thats the general consensus.  A segment of people think that, but not the majority.

Agreed.

I'd say double platinum speaks enough for the "general consensus".

I don't. The people who hate Scott are people from the *cough* OTHER section. Mostly after that rant he published on the VR web site.

2. What do you think of scott's solo record?

Haven't heard it, though I would like to.

Well, that was my interpretation of what the fans on HTGTH think.

EDIT: Also, I don't think you can say that Contraband would've sold that well if Velvet Revolver wasn't a 'Superband'

1. This contradicts your original point.  Scott is one reason they are a "superband."

2. If the implication is that the album wouldnt sell because the music isnt good, its a logical fallacy that for some reason assumes that your taste in music is objective and only good music sells.

3. Two of the singles topped the rock charts for weeks, suggesting the music was successful beyond the on-paper lineup.

I don't hate Scott, but I strongly dislike him as a frontman. Mainly because his voice doesn't appeal to me at all. I also think his style pretty much stink, I can almost smell Rob Halford.

i used to love and respect VR and scott. But now they take the piss, taken too long to release an album, just like the darkness did for example, scotts voice i feel on the new live videos sounds worn and not as good.

They have all silly things going on, solo careers, other bands, adverts n all that.

Just feels like VR have gone right out the window of there priority lists.

I don't like him at all as a singer and performer. I don't like his singing, his stage moves (dancing), his outfits, well basically everything about him as an entertainer etc.

I hated his comments about Axl, the ones we've all read.

I strongly believe that Slash and Duff would be better with another frontman.

I haven't heard his solo stuffs, but I do own a few STP albums and Contraband of course.

1. Well yeh, that is a reason they are a superband. I didn't say that he wasn't a big name or whatever. And if you read the original question, it was about people on this board, and I gave my honest interpretation of this board.

2. Seriously you can't say that this album would've sold much if they were an unknown band. And its more than just about the music, its the people in the band, the image the band gives across. This album sold well because GN'R fans needed their Slash and Duff "Fix" and STP fans wanted their Scott "fix". At the time this was also the only more classical rock album out there.

3. The only 2 decent songs on the album. The rest in generic. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Fall To Pieces and Slither but the other songs on the album are just bland.

1. I don't hate him. I think he's a talented songwriter, writes good lyrics (unfortunately the majority of Contraband doesn't prove it), he's an amazing live performer, but his voice ain't anything special.

2. His first solo album is pretty good with lot of industrial elements, I'm sure Uncle Axl digs that, too ok

2. It can be said about other bands as well.

3. It's your personal taste. I think half of the album is pretty good, true GN'R-qualitym while the other half is mediocre. IMO FTP belongs to the latter.

Well heres my thoughts, i think most ppl on alot of different boards hate scott just cuz he aint axl, many ppl seem to think that slash, duff, and matt only sound good in gnr (which aint true). And i thought that his solo album was really good and had many different styles of music in it. Just find and listen to the song mockingbird girl, it has rock, pop, and a little bit of african drums? or something. ( By the way you can by the songs on Itunes or MP3.com). Sadly 12 bar blues totally BOMBED in sales and dident hit the charts.

Also i think scott sounds good live on CERTAIN SONGS! Just listen to big machine live and you'll see. heres a link.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2AHxWmUpTo

Theres a difference, VR did quite well, they were quite popular, if they leave it too long, well they have, they have lost the momentum, so the next album will prbz bum out.
