I hope it is mostly new songs; to do the 2002 set list again would be lame. Anyone remember August 1991 when Axl ranted about playing new songs because doing AFD would be like "jerking off"? Well, here ?it is, 15 years later, so let's have some new music and not the same ?old ?same ?old (despite its brillance).

Plus, does anyone notice a disconnect between the type of music then and now? It is two different styles. If he plays new and old stuff it will be one schizophrenic show.

I would weep with joy if Brian May came out onstage at the RDS and played Catcher in the Rye with Axl...

I would weep with joy if Slash comes out onstage and plays November Rain's solo properly.

yea, id expect at the minimum 4 or 5 new songs, maximum 6 or 7. the rest pretty much sticking to the set of 2002. hopefully he keeps in the more minor tunes like think about you, crazy and adds to them with some of the hidden illusion numbers like dead horses. but id doubt it. it'll more than likely be a straight ahead greatest hits package outside of the new tunes.

but we must have one in a million! and coma!
we must!

One in a Million? ?I hope so too, but keep dreaming. ?Then again, wasn't the reason they never played it because Slash refused to? ?That's no longer a problem.

They've played it several times...

Really?  I just remember an old Slash interview where he says he would never play it live.

I bet most of us have OIAM live on boots or on the pcs.
I don't see the band playing it now, nor do I hope so. Tongue

A show of just new songs will be schizophrenic enough. To my satisfaction hehe.  hihi
Don't you notice the dissimilarity between the new songs. Each song is distinct from the others. No band ever has enjoyed this dynamism.  yes

Ditto to the rest of your post.
When they're about to release the album(s), they play as many new songs as possible.
Even if they're not, it can't be the same set as 'the 02 shows.

I seriously think opening night is going to start out with "WTTJ" or a song we haven't heard at all yet.

Just imagine how fucking electric it will be when the lights dim... drool

Obviously, the last tour leaned far too heavily on the old material, and this time out I'd really like that changed - Hence forth, I nominate these songs to get cut altogether:

November Rain
Live and Let Die
My Michelle
Rocket Queen
Mr. Brownstone
Out Ta Get Me
Nightrain

I was going to nominate KOHD and Think About You, but I really liked how the new band played them in 2002... So I'm fine with those staying on. As for the others, they're worn out and don't add anything to the shows - We've heard them a million times before, and they take away valuable time. And don't get me wrong, RQ is one of my favorite GNR tracks - But it's not a necessity as a live track.

And yes, songs like NR and Nightrain are anthemic and fan-faves, but cutting it out of the show would make room for at least 3 new songs. I've never been fond of either one, actually.

Live and Let Die is worth keeping for Axl's scream alone.

They need at least WTTJ, SCOM and PC

I wouldnt be happy if I went to a GNR show and didnt hear these 3

then they can rotate the other 3 old songs

KOHD- This song has to be retired

Nightrain- Finck kills the vine of this song with his horrible backing vocals. Makes it sound amateurish.

Think about You- I consider this filler on a GNR setlist. Play a new song instead.

Its so Easy- One of my all time fave GNR songs. But it does not fit with this new band.

Out Ta Get Me- Same reason as Its so Easy and Nightrain

I'm not really interested in hearing any of the old stuff, but the songs I listed really need to be removed from the setlist.
