Blue October - Great fucking band!!

Wow! I bought Blue October's album Foiled awhile ago and I liked it but it didn't really stick with me untill about a week ago. I've been listening to it alot over the last week and it's a great album. Earlier tonight I came across a few of their songs on youtube that aren't on the disc and they blew me away. I started digging a bit. Typed in Blue October on my download program and to my surprise a shitload of songs came up that I didnt' recognize. I looked up their website and found their myspace page and for the last 3 hours I've been sampling music from all 5 of their album(one is a live album) These guys are fucking awesome. So much so that I'm headed to HMV tomorrow to order in the 4 albums I don't own.? they rock at times and at times are so mellow and atmospheric. The singer Justin has a great knack for delivering amazing pop melodies without it sounding like a lame pop song. Having said that these guys do have amazing pop songs and I'm completely baffeld as to how they haven't broke into the mainstreme sooner. They also use the violin in their songs on an extremely regular basis and I love the violin when it's done right and these guys do it right.? Anyways Great band. Just thought I'd share that with everyone and was wondering if anyone else likes them. If you haven't had the chance definately check them out.?

From what I've heard the impression I get is exactly what you just said.  History For sale sounds like it's likely the best of the bunch. Not since I got into The Cure back in 1996 have I felt the urge to go out and buy all the band's albums at once. I bought 14 Cure albums in January of 1996 because they grabbed me instantly after hearing Wild Mood Swings. Obviously this wasn't as instantanious but the effect is basically the same. I want all of Blue October's albums and I want them right now. Another great thing about these guys is the lyrics in my opinion are excellent. Great poetry. At least I think so.

It's definitely great poetry, very introspective and true to life.

I don't doubt that it is amazing. I listened to Clumsy Card House and Weight of the World and they sound freaking awesome. the sound quality for a live performance is great and the crowd participation is the kind that gives you goose bumps. How is it that a band goes unnoticed for the most part for 4 albums and even when they do get some commercial success it's fairly minimal.  A band like this is a prime example of what's wrong with the music industry and for the exact opposite reasons as the ones we see on MTV and hear on radio.

yes I agree they are a great band. listen to them a lot on my Ipod.
scizophrenia, razorblade, somebody are a few songs that I really dig. I'm going to go check them out Nov 6th and see how they are live. They have played here many times and have never seen them but I won't miss them this time.

[Dirty Little Thing]

I picked up this album after hearing the single "Hate Me" the video really caught me and the whole CD is great. The singer(Justin I think his name is?) has wrote some really great lyrics and the songs are mellow without being too boring or anything. Great band and I plan on picking up their other CDs whenever I find myself with the cash.

I love their use of violins as well, and 18th Floor Balcony is one of the most sincere love songs I've ever heard.  I recently got History for Sale, but I haven't listened to anything else other than Calling You.

just got tickets to go see them in Grand Rapids MI, I've never seen them live I'll let you know how they are, I'm looking foreword to seeing them.

just seen these guys live and wow what a show. they can really rock...if you get the chance to catch them do it they are great. I forget what it like to see a band in a small venue the place was a sellout and held only 1000. but hte band is very tight and play stuff from all their albums great show.
