Drum beats are way more from eletronic stuff than just hip-hop. And I think they left much of that influence back in '99.

Also, what's the deal with quoting a 7 year old interview? It doesn't prove a fuckin' thing...

But well, trying to make the thread usefull.. I think IRS doesn't have the pre-recorded beat anymore. Listen to the live version and the '99 demo - the drums are quite similar.

But there's a thing that bother me: TWAT, Better, Rhiad, IRS (at least on one of the demos), Madagascar and OMG have drum loop in their intro. Kinda gets repetitive...

OMGZ. SOO COOOLZ. AXXL DANCEZ SOO 'MAZING

Sorry, i beg to differ.

I don't think it's hip hop influenced really.

Unless you call the intro drumming to 'better' hip hop. Which i don't.

For the record, I don't think there will be a hip-hop influence on CD, but I'm sure that they are taking advantage of whatever modern-sounding technologies seem appropriate.

Well said requiem156. I agree!  yes

whatever unusual ingredient they pick, they'll blend it well with other stuff.

No. Like other people said drum loops don't make it hip hop. Hip hop doesn't have heavy guitars and singers like Axl.

IRS demo does have a Hip-Hop vibe on drums/bass, and it KICKS-ASS!
However, the Live version 2006 has a more Rock feel.

I love both versions.

the title of this thread made my blood run cold, and a wave of nausea passed through me.? ? nervous

i am a die hard rocker, and i hope to all that is holy and unholy that CD is a ROCK album.? i am SO sick of hip hop and its influence, i could vomit. i don't think that 'mixing it up' with hip hop to add to the fan base and compete with Jay Z and the like is cool, nor is it unique.? ?rant

there are a hellofa lot of ROCKERS left out there, who want solid, REAL rock. peace

i've always believed rock music is about mixing genres and pushing the sound since it was born out of genre mixing. to me, bands like rage against the machine understood this and were true rock n roll.

Good post. If the album has hip-hop beats, I'm all for it - Genre blending can produce some very cool results, and if the album were just straight-ahead rock, it'd be an incredibly boring record - GNR have been there and done that, time to press forward.

Amen to DarkStar

Wasn't Rock n' roll originally a mongrel crossbred of rhythm & blues and country & western or something?
And has evolved and branched out by mixing with elements from different genres. Otherwise we'd be still hearing only Elvis/ chuck berry type R n' R.
