i don't think we'll hear any more new songs played live until AFTER the cd is out. Even then, i think at most we'll get 6, maybe 7 new songs per show. I think the setlist will remain predominately old material- hopefully they'll add more UYI era songs though.

there's a good reason why they aren't playing more illusion era stuff right now. and they aren't going to start playing more unless duff and slash rejoin or something.

i think if the tour gets up and running and if the album comes out and the tour continues and the album sells and the new album comes out... it'll be like the u2 zoo tv tours where its all new stuff with a few hits thrown in.

It would make sense for the band to throw those shows into the main body of the tour IF they were finalising the CD album, art, and release strategies for them : after all, it'll be the bands fifth or sixth "Chinese Democracy" tour for an album that hasn't come out yet. If the record was finished and the cover art signed off, then it make sense for that to go into production now - and that window of a few weeks is the only real chance they've had since April to do so. If it's just extra rehearsal, it sounds a bit weak to me - they're shit hot right now, so there's no need to rehearse unless they're adding "Don't Cry" or bringing back "Rhiad" and "Oh My God"

They're a well-oiled machine at this point...What's with the extra rehearsal nonsense and where did it come from?

It could be everything: extra-rehearsals, or last minutes recordings for the album, final touch, or credits, or this and that... it could be everything. We don't know.

I know, but everyone is referring to this extra rehearsal excuse...Where did that even originate?

yeah i was thinking the same, where did that come from?  they havent given us any indication of any new songs possibly being performed.  i would hope that they would at least throw t.w.a.t & catcher in there on a nightly basis til the album drops. most of us have heard them and both songs really rock!  they cant possible come back to nyc and play the same setlist as they did for the hammerstein show, that would be pretty lame.

Oh, but I'm afraid they most certainly can, and very well may!

Sure hope the next live gig brings new songs. They are after all calling the tour the Chinese Democracy tour.
Have a feeling that the next live gig will bring news of a release date for the new album  ok

I wish we have some news before the first gig.
But yes, they'll have to play a different setlist...this is the chinese democracy tour so...no more 85% old guns, 15% new guns. Now it has to be maybe 40% old guns, 60% new guns

60% New Guns songs and 40% old?? I'm positive that won't happen.  Most of the people going to the shows aren't hardcore fans like us and probably haven't heard the new songs they are currently playing live, outside of the fans that went to some '02 shows and heard the Blues, CD and Madagascar and maybe Rhiad at one show.  They know they can't play too many new songs yet until the album comes out because most people don't want to go to a concert and hear a ton of songs they are unfamiliar with. So I don't expect us to hear any different NEW songs but maybe some old songs they haven't played live yet. But I wouldn't get my hopes up at all, as it will probably still be the same set list it has always been. Think about it, we have this discussion every single time they have a break and are getting ready to play shows again, and we haven't seen a change yet. They didn't change it for Vegas or Inland Invasion and I really don't think they will for this leg of the tour. We just have to wait until the album comes out.

I think the fans should know by the now that GN'R are GOING to play the same setlist until the album hits.

Gn'R fans can't handle that kind of thinking.  We're all too busy using our illusions and dreaming of new songs being played on this tour.

Now that that's been said, I'm sure we'll have the same set as we've had for a while now.  Most shows will get Better, IRS, Madagascar, and The Blues.. some will get  Chinese Democracy and maybe even TWAT as a replacement for one of the first 4 mentioned.

With the time off for a few weeks, I'm hoping for a new tune.  I doubt it, but I'm hoping  beer

Otherwise, I totally agree.
