Update:

RollingStone.com picked the wrong Tuesday. This rumor is not true

/jarmo

Did anyone actually put any merit to this claim in the beginning?

Not I.

I never put merit to any claim, ever.

I'm sure as hell not making a new thread about this, but I was passing through San Angelo, TX this morning and the DJ said Axl Rose has announced that CD is coming out in November. The station is 101.9 The Fire. They probably just misinterpreted the last press release, but I thought I'd relay what I heard.

LOL. Yeah, I think he probably either misinterpreted the press release or he saw the Rolling Stone thing.

I'm actually in Lubbock at Texas Tech. Just curious, but why were you passing through San Angelo? LOL.

My sister lives there and I also go hunting sometimes in that direction (I live in Austin).? They've got a pretty good rock station, but I'm sure they wouldn't be the first ones to know something.

Ah, cool. Sorry for being nosey, and thanks for actually answering. LOL. I just found it pretty funny/cool that we were both in the same neck of the woods.

I don't think we are going to hear "rumblings of a single" or anything like that. I think everything is going to be quiet and then all of a sudden, they have a release date, a ton of promotion that they had been working on but keeping secret and the singles will drop after that.

I agree.  I think EVERYTHING will come in one package.  A huge press release and album news.

Yes, I can safely say without any hyperbole it will be greater than 10 SUPER BOWLS!!!!!!
Although a poster above made a great, great point.

Don't forget Axl's love affair with animation.

As if anyone could, or would, forget.

I think its essential a single and release date are forthcoming pre-tour

there's still enough time for promotion for a late November release but that window of opportunity is becoming narrower by the hour. An announcement this week then?

I still have faith that CD is coming this year ok

It's amazing how eerily similar the comments made right now are to those made in 2002.

Let's hope it plays out a little differently...

2002- "Soon is not the word"
2006- "It'll be this year," "only 13 tuesdays left," "they picked the wrong tuesday"

Not when millions of people around the world are led to believe the album is coming out.

Axl may have said "soon" wasn't the word on an MTV interview but he toured on the strength of the title "Chinese Democracy" in '02 and many fans expected a release. In 2004 they had supposedly set a release date and then that was canceled, causing Greatest Hits to be released in its place.

And lest we not forget Axl ORIGINALLY said it would be out back in 1999 "soon." So he may have changed his mind in '02 but he was ready to release it "soon" in '99, and that's when the hype started and died.
