Marmite Militia, taking over one piece of toast at a time!!!

I hate nothing more than people who play Oblivion, love it, and don't know that Morrowind exists.

Have it, played it, love it.? Actually, I have 2 versions..the PC version and the Xbox GOTY version.? Actually, I own, and have played, every single Elder Scrolls title starting with Arena (even the god awful FPS-style Battlespire).? They've all been stellar (well, all the RPG's)...even the bug ridden Daggerfall was excellent once they repaired all the wonkineess.

I like Oblivion more than Morrowind because the main and central plot picks up a bit quicker, but the expansiveness and free range game play are fundamentally the same.? Oh, and Oblivion looks prettier, too. Smiley? But seriously, I like the game mechanics in Oblivion a little bit more, too.? The insta-travel and the horse make such a HUGE difference in playability.? If only they would release the Construction Set on 360, or allow the 360 to play PC created content, it would be perfect.? Because it doesn't I had to go out and get the PC version too....because some of the user created content (just like in Morrowind) is awesome.

Oh, and you know what I hate? People who "hate" something based on a faulty assumption....

Oblivion is far and away the best game, period, that I have ever played.

But I'm not really a game player.

One of my top 10, I think, now.

My #1 would have to be Ultima IV. #2 would probably be Half Life 2. #3 would probably be Chronotrigger.? The original Zelda and Super Metroid would probably round out my top 5.

I think Oblivion would be #6 or #7 (I'd have to think long and hard about how it compares to Catlevania:Symphony of the Night).

Still pretty high up on the list of someone who IS a pretty long time and prolific game player.

OK, just for fun.here's the rest:

6) Oblivion
7) C:SOTN
Cool Tetris
9) Super Mario 64
10) Age of Empires II
11) Everquest  (the original, after release, prior to the massive changes and transformation into Evercamp)
11b) World of Warcraft (in it's current state)
12) Starcraft
13) Gold Box Dungeons and Dragons Collection (I'm cheating, I know...but it's my list)
14) Kid Icarus
15) Elite
16) Resident Evil 4
17) Civilization (and all it's revamps and updates aka sequels)
18) Goldeneye 007
19) Ocarina of Time
20) Star Wars: Tie Fighter

That was remarkably tough.....Strider and Bionic Commando, two of my all time favorites, didn't even make it in...

Morrowind was basically Daggerfall with a graphical improvement. New story maybe, but same basic game mechanics, it didn't change all that much and I was not hugely impressed. However Oblivion is much more polished in all facets of the game, its what Morrowind should have been.? smoking

Morrowind was a great game, inspite of the fact that every 25 hours I would come across a quest with bug that nothing could be done about, and thus after spending 3 months are somthing like that playing it, I would have to start it all over again from the start.

This was the same on both X-box and PC.

I dont think it was all that great because it was vastly similar to game made several years before, Elder Scrolls II:Daggerfall. Some of the Fighters Guild and other Guild Missions as well were exactly the same. The game was essentially Daggerfall with a graphical improvement. Though for those who had never played Daggerfall, for those looking for a lessy buggy, graphically improved version of it, i can see them loving it.  smoking

PC version was eventually patched to fix those issues.  The original X-box version was, to some extent, almost unplayable because of those bugs, and the "unreadable disk" error problems.  The GOTY edition on Xbox did a lot of those issues, but not all of them.  The dreaded DDE errors, though, were much less frequent and, if you didn't have a Thompson drive in your Xbox, they were pretty much non-existent.
