Need some suggestions

I am looking for a sound close as possable to Slash.
I have been playing for several years now. I like my Epiphone LP that I have. I am looking for a amp and a distortion pedal. I currently have a Crate GX-15, which does not have the line in for CD. I also have the Digitech Rp-50. I just can not seem to get the right sound out of it.
Here is my situation. I need it to be very cost effective. I need it to have a line in for CD.(I like playing along with the music.) I do not need something loud, since I ussually have headphones on.
Any suggestions are welcomed.

Not alot. Like $200 total. Keep in mind I play for myself with headphones on most of the time so a to not wake my daughter at night.
I am liking the look of the Marshall MG15MSII (microstack). I am not sure of the sound though. I can get it for a good price somewhere.
Thanks for the suggestions Neemo. The Roland looks cool.

yeah the Line6 SpiderII 30 is $159 @
musiciansfriend.com
and it's got 6 effects & programable presets and you can buy a footswitch that turns on effects switches presets and has a Wah....very versatile little thing
one of the presets (Crunch) mimics a '68 Marshall Plexi 100w amp which is close to slash's sound and
www.line6.com
has settings for WTTJ also the wesite has streaming clips to check out what the amp sounds like
http://www.line6.com/spiderii/sounds02.html
anyway i just bought this thing felt it was the right amp for me

Slash sound is basically: SD Alnico Pro II pickups + Gibson LP + Marshall JCM tube. Of course a lot of other factors influence the sound, but that's the basic setup. If u have stock pups change them. A nice sounding tube amp ( Epiphone Valve Junior, Fender Blues) should suffice. Might exceed $200 slightly. Just my opinion.

I agree with the person who told you to get the Line 6 SpiderII amp. That fucking thing is amazing and it's super cheap. My best friend has one and at first I was like this thing is gonna be shit, but I played it and was blown away. I'm getting one myself and trust me, you will not be dissappointed with it. It has the effects built right in and there's a very similar sounding Slash-ish tone we got out of a Strat being played into it.

Slash doesnt use distortion
youll always have a shitty sound from shitty amps
save up
get a tube amp and dial in slash's settings from snakepit.net

That will not be possible with most tube amps, so I suggest u go with what others suggested.

OK, my budget has been revised. I am looking for something a little nicer. I am looking to stay under $600 for an amp.
I DO NOT PLAY GIGS. I use this to jam in my home. Most of the time I use headphones, but I occasionally play with out. I would like it to have a CD in also.
I am thinking the Marshall AVT50, myself.

My opinion 'bout marshall amps is that they're not very good when it comes to jaming at home at lower volumes, they need just like most amps a lot of volume to show of their capacity, go for the line 6 or maybe a smaller vox.
thats just what I think.

there is a current guitar mag out there that has a big article on amps it runs down like 6 differnet ones....but if you just play at home i'd just go with maybe a 50-75w amp and maybe a footboard. like you could go for the roland cube60 for about $350 @ musciansfriend then get a digitec shortboard for about $100 - $200
BUT
.......musician's freind has this for $599US, Marshall MG100 halfstack

They are quite good actually. Have the line out / headphone features that u want. Sound quite decent, except the distortion (which I thought sucked). I might go for one myself since the tube amps I wanted are not available where I live.

I have 2, the AD15VT and the AD30VT - you will have to by some kind of effect to go with it, because I can never get mine to scream, not even on high volumes, without some kind of a distortion pedal.

Holy shit!!! $600?!?!?!
I'm not an expert on Marshall amps, since I've always used VOX - is this a good deal? Is it a decent stack and head?
I looking into getting a Marshall stack of some kind, I wasn't gonna get one now, but is the deal too good to pass up? what would it usually cost?

Barring their older models, I'd say the JCMs are the best, esp. the 800. But those are expensive.

I plan on saving up for a while, like maybe a year or two
I'll have to research them a lot first. Thanks again.
