If they're smart, they'll tour tour tour, and build up a fanbase.

They already have a substantial UK following and completed a tour that lasted about 6 months earlier this year.
They are back out on the road again next year to support the new album.

I took a risk and bought the album today without hearing much of their previous stuff..
One Way Ticket, Hazel Eyes and Girlfriend are my fave songs so far.. another couple I like as well. Didn't like all the tracks.
I think a couple of the songs were a bit below average. Next album they need to aim for a solid album without the few below average fillers.. have a few kick ass singles and really promote on those to sell and win people over on a solid album.

Justin Hawkins quits The Darkness
A continuing battle with drug addiction has forced The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins to quit the British glam rock band, U.K.'s the Sun newspaper reports.
The singer announced the news after successfully undergoing rehabilitation for drinking and drug problems.
Hawkins has been clean of cocaine and alcohol since August, and said he can't live the rock 'n' roll lifestyle any more.
"It will be an upheaval," he told the Sun. "But it's time for me to move on. It would be damaging to my recovery to stay on. I'm not blaming the band for my problem -- I am an addict."
The remaining band members stated on the Darkness official message board that they are in "total shock" and apologized to fans for having to "find this out through the newspapers."
Hawkins says he plans to work on a solo album in the future, and would like to write film music as well.

I believe I also read that the new bass player will take over lead vocals. Assuming that's true, it's also simply an idiotic move. Better to start over from scratch with a new name and a different sound, in my opinion.
Still, I loved the first album, and will miss what the band had, albeit briefly.

They won't be able to play the old songs with him singing, he sang 'highway to hell' at RIR, the same night GNR were on. Justin will be back, once he recovers he'll come back.

That's insane! how could anyone else sing for him? He was what made the band for most people. Anyways, this is pretty shitty... he'll probably be back, i couldnt see the band going to far with out him.

THE DARKNESS DROPPED BY RECORD LABEL
British rockers THE DARKNESS have been dropped by their record label in the wake of frontman JUSTIN HAWKINS' departure. The I BELIEVE IN A THING CALLED LOVE star has been clean of cocaine and alcohol for nine weeks after going into rehab in August (06), and decided he just can't live the rock 'n' roll lifestyle any more. Hawkins' former bandmates - including his guitarist brother DAN - plan to continue without him, despite poor sales of second album ONE WAY TICKET TO HELL AND BACK. But Atlantic Records executives have now ditched the depleted Darkness.

I know it's not a good thing, but I'm happy they are over. Never liked that band.
What have they invented ? They were just a rerun of Spinal Tap ...

Yes, but a rerun who put out fun songs that many enjoyed for what they were. Sometimes, the wheel doesn't have to be reinvented...

First the bassist and then the singer - hell, there isn't enough of the original band to continue
Somehow i dont think the chance to see the original darkness drummer will be much of a pull
....and their second album was terrible

True, but when has the amount of original band members ever stopped A GNR FAN from liking somthing?!?
And I agree the second album was basically a shittier version of Permission to Land. Not everything on it was bad though, knockers rocks real hard and has a epic chorus with "I JUST LOVE WHAT CHA DONE WITH YOUR HAIR!!" hell yeah.

It doesn't help the matter when your second album only sells 91,000 in the USA.
