There a good band and all, its just that prog-metal isn't really my cup oftea.

51. Tool is NOT prog. If anyone insists they are, kill them.
Than what is prog metal? Besides Rush.

Well first off: it was just a joke, but with a hint of truth. Sure enough Lateralus has a lot of prog elements, but there's a certain image that comes to mind from the genre of prog metal; that's bands like Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation, Andromeda, Spiral Architect, Symphony X, Fates Warning, Sun Caged, Lemur Voice, etc. - Tool doesn't exactly fit that group. But anyway, I guess what I'm saying is that Tool is both prog and metal, just not prog metal

Haven't heard it, so it's hard to say.. doubt it though. Of course these things are always open for interpretation, there's no absolute truth.

Laterulus is fucking amazing......probably the most mindblowing album i've ever heard..
tool are awesome, it just takes a long time to get used to them and their sound because it is so drastically different than anything else you've heard...

here is a thread for the unbelievable band tool.
who else likes them here.
they are just incredible, there lyrics, there addictive riffs.amazing vocalist in maynard james keenan, one of the best drummers in the world, and breathtaking bass.
seriously people if you dont know there stuff then you just got to get into it.there is no turning back.
my second favourite band of all time without doubt.
Cold play doesnt come anywhere near GNR
HAHAHA tool suck.
I agree the drummer is good though.
To be honest i have only heard 4 songs and the ones that Jon has played for me..... but i don't think they are that special.
I think RHCP and SOAD are better...... and they don't even come close to GNR or Coldplay

Well, you gotta understand that u have to liten to Tool for some time before you understand it. And i can promise you that its worth the it!
Tool is a much much much better band then bouth RHCP and SOAD! SOAD is so far behind Tool, that they cant even smell Tool parfyme!
The 2 new Tool DVD`s are great! And there is a sticker on it which says.. Look for a new Tool album spring 2006! This will be so fucking great!
