Yeah man, Lateralus is also my favorite Tool album, but in the last few weeks 10,000 Days has slowly crept up on it in that regard hihi

I was honestly disappointed with it after my first listen, but every listen since then its just gotten better and better.

I love how each song flows together perfectly, and the only track I honestly couldn't care about would have to be Viginti Tres Undecided

Dont give up on the album man, its absoluely amazing once it clicks with you.

"Intension" leaves me speechless, and then "Right in Two" kicks my ass ok

yeah 10,000 Days is great, but songs like Lateralus and Reflection just blow me away. those might be my two favorite Tool songs ever. Especially Reflection!! Maynard's vocals are incredible and that drum beat with that sick bassline... oh man.? drool

Amen.

Lateralus will be remembered as a true classic of the early 00s. Song after song after song kicking your ass, and then some.

I can't understand why some Tool fans don't like it.

Perhaps you could ask them about that. Start a discussion on that topic perhaps. I don't listen to Tool myself so I'm not the one you should ask.  Roll Eyes

Well boys and girls, this Monday I shall be off to see my second Tool show! Cheesy

I attended the June 24th show in Hamilton with my Dad, and all I can say is WHAT A FUCKING SHOW!!! Shocked beer

The setlist from what I remember ( hihi) was as follows:

Jambi
Stinkfist
Forty-Six & 2
Schism
Right in Two
Lost Keys
Roseta Stoned
Wings For Marie, Part 1
10, 000 Days, Wings Part 2
Lateralus
Vicarious

Every single song was INCREDIBLE, but my personal favorites had to have been Forty-Six & 2, Lateralus, and 10, 000 Days, Wings Part 2 ok ok

...OH! and of course, I got to hear my favorite Tool song, "Right in Two"... drool smoking

The "breakdown" part of that song was just mind-blowing!!!

The crowd was really into the show too which the band really loved.

Maynard remarked how "He absolutely loves Canada, and how everytime they play here, its always an amazing show" or something to that effect.

There was so much to take in....

Adam's incredible playing...Justin going beserk on the bass, Maynard absolutely spot on....and of course Danny Carey was just mind-blowing...simply incredible behind the kit drool drool

PLUS! the amazing visual effects, and intense video images....what a damn good rock show beer

Definately anxious to see them for the second time now that Ive lost my Tool virginity! rofl

....Oh yeah, my Dad is pretty excited to see them for the second time too! hihi

The Fibonacci Sequence

The Fibonacci are a sequence of numbers where you start with two initial numbers, then add them up to get the next number in the sequence. If we start with 0 and 1 we get; 0 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21...

You'll notice that if you divide one number with the previous you'll get a ratio close to The Golden Ratio. The higher up in the sequence you go, the more accurate it becomes. These can be used to make an ever expanding spiral. This spiral and ratio is the cornerstone of how the Universe is structured.

So let's take a look at the sequence again:

0 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21

..and then compare it to the amount of syllaballs in the song Lateralus (literally meaning 'spiral') by Tool:

1 Black
1 then
2 white are
3 all I see
5 in my infancy.
8 Red and yellow then came to be,
5 reaching out to me,
3 lets me see.

13 As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
8 drawn beyond the lines of reason.
5 Push the envelope.
3 Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must
feed my will to feel my moment drawing way outside the lines.

1 Black
1 then
2 white are
3 all I see
5 in my infancy.
8 Red and yellow then came to be,
5 reaching out to me,
3 lets me see
2 there is
1 so
1 much
2 more and
3 beckons me
5 to look through to these
8 infinite possibilities.
13 As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
8 drawn outside the lines of reason.
5 Push the envelope.
3 Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition leaving opportunities behind.
Feed my will to feel this moment urging me to cross the line.
Reaching out to embrace the random.
Reaching out to embrace whatever may come.

I embrace my desire to
Embrace my desire to
Feel the rhythm, to feel connected enough to step aside and weep like a widow
To feel inspired to fathom the power, to witness the beauty,
To bathe in the fountain,
To swing on the spiral
To swing on the spiral
To swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human.

With my feet upon the ground I lose myself between the sounds and open wide to suck it in;
I feel it move across my skin.
I'm reaching up and reaching out; I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me.
What ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.
Spiral out. Keep going.
Spiral out. Keep going.
Spiral out. Keep going.
Spiral out. Keep going.
Spiral out. Keep going.

I was listening to Lateralus these days and something struck me: This is probably the best rock album of the decade!

It was released in 2001 and nobody, including Tool, haven't been able to record a better album. And as we're heading to the end of this '00 - '09 decade, I think that's it. It's just an amazing album, really. peace

I actually prefer ?nima and 10,000 Days to Lateralus.

Still a solid album though.

TOOL SUMMER TOUR

I'm sure many of you have heard of an upcoming summer tour. Although I can't announce any specific dates yet (as the bulk of the dates haven't been confirmed), once they are finalized and official, we'll be sure to announce them on the site. So... be on the lookout for these dates to be posted soon, and get ready for live Tool this summer. (Now I understand what that elemental was referring to in the February newsletter)
