Well, it's decent promotion....but you might as well have Axl as the host because I don't feel like sitting through that crap just to get to some nuggets.

Remembrance day is when WW1 ended, the treaty was signed at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month. But now it's used as a day to remember all wars. I thought the US would celebrate it. Also, GnR are good. (on topic now!)

God why do people think GNR are too big or too good for SNL? If he wants people to see what he can do, he should do every TV appearance he can, to get back into the eyes of mainstream America, because right now he is not.
I understand that the views on this board are skewed, and that 'GNR' (read Axl) can do no wrong, but honestly let's be realistic. When only the lead singer remains - IT IS NOT THE GROUP ANYMORE. To 99.5% of the population, this is Axl doing a comeback thing with 'some guys' - and because of the tremendous successes of 87-93, it will always be that way and is a large part of the reason there is even this much interest in him/them. He and Slash are forever linked as true GNR and until that reunion occurs, this iteration of GNR will never come close to the old days. I am speaking from a non-harcore position, so do not bash me just because I don't worship everything Axl does. I'm telling you what the population's mindset is.
That said, I think its great he's back, but it ain't the real thing. Between nothing and Axl, of course I'll choose Axl but...

it's never gonna happen. the reason there is no buzz or the the populations mindset is where it's at is because axl does nothing to change that. he's trying to rekindle old songs with new members.
i don't forsee a huge marketing campaign for this record at all.

Take your opinions on over to the Dead Horse section. It's there that you can learn that Slash quit and wasn't fired and so on and so on. The current lineup
is
Guns N' Roses. Hopefully you can accept that.

I dont think it would help to do SNL.
No one really watch's this show any more.
The concerts are almost all sold out, so you dont really need to promote them.
The album is going to sell millions off the name Guns N Roses and all the hype about the wait.
SNL never really has any good perfomances anyways.
Its more for up and comming bands I think. To give them national exposure to get there name out there. Something GNR really dosnt need

i don't think the band could fit on the SNL tiny ass stage.
They should just do some sort of concert on MTV2 or something. Hell, they could even just show Rock Am Ring since the average person probably hasn't seen it.

The hell they don't.
If they didn't need any exposure right now then we would have seen more of these tour dates selling out. Fuck, even Bon Jovi last year (who sold-out their fall N. American tour in a weekend) still went on to do late night shows and what not. This album needs promotion. Some of you still think that the entire world is waiting for this album.
Well...maybe they would if they actually knew of it!
Saturday Night Live (or an MTV2 or HBO special for that matter) would bring great opportunities.

Well I gues that Guns N Roses being on top of pollster means nothing. I guess no one is buying tickets and no one is looking forword to this album.
What exposure would this lame ass sketch show really do? Not a hole lot.
But then there is the aggument that any exposure is good exposure.
Do I think the promotion has been any good so far for this album? Not a fucking chance. I actually dont even think the album is comming out this year.
SNL is not the choice for gnr at this point.
I would agree though that a free tv conceret would be good. Or even an all star ppv concert

Axl needs to get his ass on talk shows.
They also need to perform on Leno and shows like that.
If he thinks GN'R is "above" talk show circuits, he's wrong.
This album will flop if they don't get their asses moving.

Only for many, not all, people on GNR message boards is this band GNR. For the rest of the world, this is Axl and some guys and GNR is Axl & Slash. Just ask anyone (who's not on a GNR board) in any street in any town.

It would be perfect they could play 1 old song and 1 new Axl could get in on some skits too. I think it would be great promotion for Guns and SNL but don't think it will happen. But we can dream. Furthermore aren't the bands booked far in advance usually.

SNL isnt for up and comers, the people they get to perform tend to be on the top of their game AT THAT MOMENT. You are right that the audience has fallen off some, but people still watch the show, it still gets put into syndication for years, and if something big happens on the show it makes news programs. The show sucks...true, but there could be no damage from playing snl. Some of the best, most controversial performances ever have occurred on SNL. I loved Faith No More's performance on SNL, Mike Patton is a freak, but thats why we love him. Elvis Costello playing Radio Radio etc... While it wont necessarily cause much good, and cant cause much harm, and would be the perfect set up for Axl, he'd get to play 2 songs, with rest in between and really go at it with his voice. Plus he could start the show off with Better and then finish with a classic to appease SNL. It sucked when it happened, but when P diddy played with Jimmy Paige on SNL, that song became immensely popular before it was even a single. Even if every concert sells out, SNL can only gain GNR mainstream exposure, loyal fans wont be turned away by this, it can only be a plus.
