vicarious existance is a fucking waste of time

« on: October 03, 2006, 11:19:52 PM »

Matt is really becoming the talking head for the band these days ain't he! hehe
Taken from blabbermouth.net:

VELVET REVOLVER drummer Matt Sorum has posted the following message on his official blog:

"Crazy busy now with the band. Rehearsing five days a week. Writing, writing, writing. Also doing 'Jay Leno' this Thursday, the 5th of October, with CAMP FREDDY. Have special guests Rick Nielsen from CHEAP TRICK as well as Slash on guitars. Also, Scott Weiland will be singing lead on this one."

"We are performing a cover of Cheap Trick's 'Surrender' which will appear in the new film 'Employee of the Month', which comes out Oct. 6. The band on 'Leno' will also include core FREDDY members Donovan Leitch, Billy Morrison and Chris Chaney."

"Hope you all tune in."

"The VELVET REVOLVER stuff is coming along. Rick Rubin came down yesterday to listen to some of our new material. Also starting talks about our new album cycle. New website design, photos, new merchandise etc. So a lot of new things in the works. Also some possible merch for Christmas. So look for that as well. I'll keep you posted on where to find it."

With this Cheap Trick cover, I don't know why they don't just use the VR version they recorded. That one turned out pretty cool.

If Rubin produces this album with a similar quality of "Shake Your Money Maker" by the Black Crowes that will be awesome!  The sound/mix on that album is almost perfecto!

There seemed to be a lot more updates and comments on this new album before GN'R embarked on their European tour.

I wonder if they have a marketing plan that is parellel to GN'R?

I wondered where VR went..
The only progress I've heard on the album is continual references to experimenting with different producers and Duff and Matt listening to alot of Prince or something..

Sad thing is though, Chinese Democracy will slaughter it rofl

But, I bet, although the general concensus will be that CD is better than Libertad, they'll say "Libertad was more hard edged, therefore, more deserving of this award" or some BS.

If Rubin wants more attention to detail, it likely means the album will take longer to complete than expected.

And damn right he is, sound like Rubin is really pushing them to the limit of their abilities, something in GNR Axl used to do, when it came to the writing process, I guess...
