In case you hadn't heard by now, Guns N' Roses are back, well in NYC at least. Although there may be no Slash, there is a new lead guitarist named Bumblefoot and no shortage of controversy. Rumour has it that Axl Rose is more of an internerd then a rockstar.
Come and ROAR and hear how Axl is an obsessive internet trainspotter of his own celebrityness, hates when he gets cyber stalked by the blogs, and doesn't want anyone taking pictures of him at the "afterparty."
Spies report that Axl Rose surfs the net 3 hours a day and is obsessed with what people blog about him. He is even rumoured to be the man behind the mystically chilling site: GNFR.com. It only contains two images and an eerie statement in the top of the browser: "Beware false prophets, the time for redemption is nigh! Isohunt has perpertrated falsehoods against thee." The images are of the Time Warner Building in Rockefeller Center and MTV's studio in Times Square where Metal Head blogger/reporter John Ostronomy works.
The whole thing is kind of bizare since both Mark and John apparently worship Guns N' Roses on their main site: Talking Metal and are big fans. Axl might have taken their stalking and overposure the wrong way.
Mark Strigl even writes that he was not stalking Axl Rose or trying to piss any GNR's fans off with their obessive reporting of "Chinese Democracy," writing:
"It has come to my attention that some people think we took things a little too far with our Guns N Roses episodes of Talking Metal. In these episodes, we only meant to poke fun at ourselves for being such fanatical Guns fans. Many elements of these episodes were exaggerated. We did stand outside of Guns N Rose?s management company and ask exiting employees if they had any information on Chinese Democracy. Most of them greeted us with a smile and waved us off. We also entered Sterling Sounds and asked if they were mastering Chinese Democracy and although the receptionist was annoyed for the first 10 seconds of our conversation, she then warmed up to us. Other employees stood to her side laughing at us."
A Whois search for GNFR.com named a W.A.R. Media, 510 S COAST HWY., LAGUNA BEACH, CA 92651as the registrant. Who is this War Media? Not really knowing anythign about this crap, the heavy metal boards were hit and some claim it has links to Sanctuary, an affiliate of Guns N' Roses and therefore definitely not a mere fan site.
Update: Mark Strigl writes in that Axl Rose is not behind GNFR.com. It's a hoax by some dickweed in Florida. The thought was fun while it lasted.And while all this can seem like out of control internet rumours, douchey party promoter Vegas was awfully protective of Axl Friday night, and even former make up wearing rocker Sebastian Bach. For some reason, Guns N' Roses decided to crash the weekly NYFUCKINCITY party at 6's and 8's at 205 Chrystie on the Lower East Side and brought with them an entourage and a strict no photo policy. Well, the ANIMALS are never good at following the rules and sent in a covert op, hottie Jackie O'Nasty who shot these images of a leather clad corn row braided Axl, and a spaced out Sebastian with a very camera shy and pissed of Vegas.
