Maybe posted before, but I thought some people may wanna see it again...

Slash and Scott are in the video.  It's a great tune, and I think this version is cool.

Shame the other guys aren't in the vid, as they played the music.

First time Ive seen this.  Its not good.

Why?

It's excellent if you ask me.  Great song... big sounding version.  I honestly can't see how you can fault it?  Not one bad singer on there.  Scott Weiland, Elton John, Steve Tyler, Pink, Gwen Stefani... all great singers.

Open your mind dude...

You're odd.  Very odd.

 Huh

Not as odd as your defensiveness over other peoples opinion of this song.

Its a cheesy record and little more than a showcase for a lot of famous singers.  Its also an awkward song choice for the subject matter.  The original "Tears In Heaven," a quiet tribute to Claptons dead son, works.  This overwrought, "fit-as-many-famous-people-as-possible (and-Kelly-Osbourne)" rendition about the tsunami, doesnt.  The production is hackneyed and so is the song in general.  The videos no good either.  The only thing worthwhile about the whole thing is that it was for charity and Slashs appearence in the video.

You like it?  Terrific.  Throw it on a CD with "Do They Know Its Christmas?," "Whats Going On? (All-Star Remix)," and "We Are The World" and sing along.  But dont act is if disliking this song is incomprehensible or sacrilegious.

Booker...

first.  Take a chill pill.  I didn't once become defensive over the song.  You're talking rubbish.  Read my answer to your dislike, and you'll see I just asked why you didn't like it.  Since you hadn't given any reason.  And when I said the guy was odd... well, hardly defensive.  Jeez.  Sort yourself out mate.  LOL.

You think it's cheesy.  Maybe it is.  So what!? Cheesy  LOL.  90% of the people I know reckon GnR is cheesy.  Again... so what?  The song is good.  That's enough for me.  I don't need a song to be breakthrough or completely devoid of cheesyness like some people.

You're the one who seems to have become defensive man.  No one else here saw me being defensive.  But then, I have seen you time and time again over the years, argue til you're blue in the keyboard on this forum.

Smiley

For the record tho ... We Are the World, Band Aid, and all the other songs like that are great!  They're feel good tunes, and theres nothing wrong with that Smiley  You need to get your head out of your ass and start just appreciating music for the music it is, instead of taking the holier than thou ground Smiley

Before you got an answer to your question, you told me to "open my mind" (you forgot to mention that in the above post).  So because I didnt like the song I was closed-minded.

Another poster voiced his opinion and you called him "very odd."  Somebody doesnt like a song that you do and theyre closed-minded or odd - these are defensive responses.

You're the one who seems to have become defensive man.  No one else here saw me being defensive.  But then, I have seen you time and time again over the years, argue til you're blue in the keyboard on this forum.

This is an ironic little passage.  ok

A little more irony (and defensiveness) - the guy insulting others for their reasonable opinions on a song criticizes a "holier than thou" attitude.

This song (the version with as many celebrities that could be crammed into it, not the original) doesn't have any soul in my opinion.

I'm glad I finally got to hear it, but I probably won't listen to it ever again.  I guess these all-star compilations are never good.
