2.i love the jays, i didnt think they would make it this year, but its nice that they made it above 3rd for the frist time since 93'.

GNR and the Jays have a lot in common. Were good in the 80's building towards something big. then in the early 90's 92-93 were the biggest band/best team in the league/world. then after that they went to hell. But there both on there way back now.

ill tell you why it turned out to be a good choice to use baseball, because the yankees and mets most likely will be playing int he world series, and since new york baseball teams are all that really matter,,(sorry rest of the country, but even you know its true) it is a great idea...

Guns N' Roses are also delighted to announce that they have partnered with Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLB.COM)

I was watching FOX baseball (Cardinals vs. Brewers) this afternoon and when they went to commercial they started the intro to Sweet Child O' Mine.

well not really... Fox leads into games with SCOM and WTJ often, during football and baseball.. so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I think this 'partnership' is only for the website, seeing as Tom Petty has the same partnership and he doesn't have any of his songs played any more often at baseball games, but MLB does run their website.  MLB runs a bunch of websites to tell you the truth.

I hope Gn'R does have a partnership with the league though (and not just the website even though I doubt it) because that would be bringing 2 of my favorite things in the world together, baseball and Gn'R. Cool

They should have Piazza in a promo commercial wearing a Padres jersey with Rose on the back. Piazza could be talking about how the Padres are going all the way, just like Axl and Chinese Democracy!

Actually, this gives me a good idea for the first music video for I.R.S. - Just have clips of Piazza and the words "sorry Axl" flash across the bottom of the screen for the duration of the song

What this partnership with MLB means, is that probably for the world series recap video of the winning teams accomplishments, you'll hear a song like There Was a Time in the background.

I like the idea of the partnership. A big sporting event (baseball playoffs just getting ready to start, and the new cd coming out.)  It would be cool to see TV ads for the cd during the game.  I can't imagine trying to sell the cd to the MTV generation. (the current generation.)  And well U2 had the Apple market down. lol  So it is fine by me.

Makes sense since WTTJ is played at nearly EVERY major league game. It's a given at hockey games. So is sweet child and sometimes live and let die. Heard it during baseball and football also (basketball maybe not).

Let's go Mets!

« Reply #33 on: October 01, 2006, 03:30:21 PM »

Since the season is almost over, I wish they had done something sooner.  That being said, GNR and the New York Mets are my two favorite things in the world, so having them together is a natural fit.  I was at the Marlins vs. Phillies game Friday night and they played all of WTTJ when the Marlins were taking the field.  And everytime, I think it was Matt Treanor, or Josh Willingham, came up to bat, they played part of "My Michelle".
And I'm going  to the show on 10/24 which means I'll miss a World Series game by going to see GNR.  Maybe Axl will update the score from the stage. Wink

Baseball rules. this was a great idea.

It'd be a better idea if the White Sox were on path to a repeat!

I'm sure the promotion will be standard issue stuff like "Register at a certain site and win GNR tickets" or just plain jane promos for the album and tour.

Either way it's a great idea seeing as hockey doesn't get any ratings anymore, the Super Bowl is next year and the playoffs and World Series are obviously a several game affair in a ton of different markets.

Great exposure overall.

(I don't think anyone ever reads my posts, so I'll say it again. hihi)

You people realize that this partnership is with MLB Advance Media right?  It's not with MLB personally, it's just with their media section.  Chances are this is just to run their website.  Tom Petty also has the same partnership with MLB, and he goes no special mentions or promotions at games or on TV.  I wouldn't be expecting too much to come out of this if I were you guys.  I mean I guess it's possible that something will happen, but if you read the article you'll see that it's with MLBAM (major league baseball advance media) and it's to run the website. no
