Okay, the recording didn't work because I had to call with my cell and when I tried to put my computer microphone next to it...well...then I couldn't hear anything being said.
I realized this before the call, so I held the microphone away but couldn't hear anything but my own voice, so I ditched it. I'll just say what happened.
I got the front desk, a guy picked up who sounded kind of effeminate, at first I thought he was a woman.
MrVics said to speak with the girl who was there, so I gave the guy a hard time and when he said "Can I help you?" I said "Eh?" And did this until he got kind of upset. I pretended to be an old man with a bad hearing aid, so he put me on hold for two minutes, then a woman picked up. I said my hearing aid was working now so she asked what she could help me with. I said I was on my way to the grocery store yesterday and pulled into the parking lot outside the building because I thought I had a flat tire but it was a false alarm. I said when I got out of the car I kept hearing loud music playing, and I really liked it. I told her I wanted to know what it was, and she asked if I had been in earlier that day and I said no.
She said they didn't have a way of telling, so I told her can't they check? And she said yes but it would be difficult and take a long time, so I said I would wait on the phone until she found out, because I didn't enter the Vietnam War to risk my live for people like her just to tell a veteran it "takes too long." I started telling her how I lost my hearing because of an explosion back in '73 and she kept saying "Sir, I didn't mean it like that" but I knew if I kept it up she would eventually break, and she did. She said, "Okay, sir, hold on one moment and I'll see what I can do." After a few minutes someone else picked up, some guy and asked what he could help me with, and I told him I wanted to know what music was playing yesterday. He said they had various things playing and he didn't know. I asked him if it was unreleased albums and he said "Most likely."
So he said "I'm sorry but I'm afraid I can't help you, it wasn't meant to be heard by people outside and we are not in the business of selling records to people here, you will have to wait for it to be released whatever it was" and then I said "So you mean to tell me you didn't want people to hear it so you blared it out the window? I could hear it across the street!"
Then he started getting mad and said he had done all he could, and I had been very rude to the receptionists and that if I kept this up he would have to hang up. So I said "I'm sorry, it's just that I'm dying in a few months because I have testicular cancer, I've been going for treatment but they caught it too late, and music has been a way of me coping with this stuff. Whatever I heard yesterday was really moving and I would love to hear it before I die." Then he kind of changed his tone a bit and said, "Whatever it was, sir, I'm afraid you'll have to wait because I don't have a way of telling."
I then said "It sounded like that guy Axl Rose a bit to me" and he paused, then chuckled and said, "Okay, sir, have a good day." And then he hung up.
I tried.
you sir are going to burn in hell

which number.. the first one i tried is not wroking, the second is a automated message

2220 Colorado Ave.
Santa Monica, 90404
(310) 449-1244
Why doesn't someone just call or go to this place and ask them if it was being played yesterday (anyone working there and answering phones would've heard it).
if we get a few people to call, we can independently verify it.
Number is disconnected.

The number I called that was posted a few pages back didn't work, I had to use one of those Reverse Lookup sites with the address and it was different.

More people have to call..Not being aggressive, just expressing interest. I dont think they realise just how loud it was. They need to be aware of the hype that has potentially surfaced from just one guy happening to be passing the building on a particular day
If there is any contact number you can find for that building regardless what the department is, try it.

I think it was (310) 865-5000, I called another number listed for Geffen Santa Monica and got some British guy, so I don't know if they're changing numbers right now or what.

Which site did you use?
The first time I called I found a Reverse Lookup site and they tried to get me to pay to search, then I found another that "couldn't find" the address I was looking for, then I got a wrong number, then I finally used another site but now I don't even remember how the hell I found it. A lot of those reverse lookups don't work at all, what's the point of even having them on the 'net?
Anyway I may call back tomorrow with another voice and pretend to be an old man who was deeply offended by the music and wishes to complain to someone in charge.
