Does everybody elses version kinda cut out for a sec towards the end?

The intros to the new tracks are kinda " iffy" for me but CITR is turning into one of my favorites, I really dig all 4 tracks respectively but the one track with the most substance for me is CITR .? GnR and Brian May doing that live this fall would be so fuckin awesome.? ?yes

Yes and there is not anymore to the song like some people claim, it? just uses a fade out kinda like nightrain does on AFD

I don't think emailing merck and telling him to have gnr play it is going to work.

Just a hunch. hihi

CITR is one of the best songs GNR has ever done. Axl is at the top of his game on that song. Also, some of the greatest lyrics he has ever written.

In 2002, before anyone had heard the song, it was rumoured to be the first single, but when a fan asked Axl about it backstage after MSG he told her that it wasn't even planned for Chinese Democracy. I don't think we'll hear any more of Catcher for quite some time. I agree though, fantastic song.

Again that is wrong. Axl told the fan that it was going to be the 3rd single, not on the 3rd album.

You're mistaken, he told her it was planned for the third album. I drove to Philly with her and a few other people the following day.

Well, the song is 7 years old at least, so maybe it might not be played.

All the songs are old. Its obvious that a song's age doesn't stop it from being on a GNR setlist.

But it's still the oldest demo and hasn't really been mentioned much. I'm not too sure if it'll be on the first part of CD. (If they do the 3 CD thing.) I'm not saying it's a bad song, because I personally love it.

Its not the oldest song. The Blues was mentioned long before CITR was ever mentioned(someone can correct me if I'm wrong).

My favorite part is when you said you even emailed Merck about it.  rofl

The reason it's not being played is because it wasn't intended to leak like the other three. At least, that's what I think. I think IRS, TWAT and Better were very deliberate - to help regain attention for the band right before the tour, to prove Axl had new material, etc. I find it really, really coincidental that he just so happened to mention TWAT and Better as two of his favorite songs from the album in the RS interview and then - whoops! There they are on the Internet! Whaddaya know?!

IRS was a throwaway because Piazza had already leaked it before and people had heard it.

When those leaked someone with another CD of demos decided it would be a good time to post his, too - he let CITR go and then management hounded him. It's funny because management didn't become active on the forums until CITR leaked which I thought was strange. CITR is also lower quality than the other leaks and sounds like it was recorded through some type of analog device.

Just IMO.

Great post. I also noticed how everything the things were running pretty much unchecked with the first few leaks, but then management pounced when CITR magically showed up.

Anyway, terrific song - I hope it shows up live eventually.

Well I thought it was strange that management wasn't taking any real action when the first leaks hit. There was a passing of time before CITR and when that happened the guy who first got the song before anyone else was in contact with me (he sent out emails later on with attachments) saying management was monitoring private messages on both HTGTH and MyGNRForum, so that's what made me think something was up.

100% True... This song blows me away.  However, just by the way the "leak" events unfolded, I don't see this song being on the album (which sucks, because it is no doubt the best of the leaks, IMO).  I just hope that someday we get a proper version of it.

Well it hasn't been played at all. It could've been played at Hammersmith as Brian May was meant to play with them but he was late and missed the soundcheck.

I think they should only play this song with Brian May as he all of his guitar parts and no disrespect to Robin, but I doubt he could play them at the quality we would expect from Brian may

I am 100% certain that Robin could handle those parts. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I really don't here anything very hard going on with the guitar in cathcer in the rye. His solo is very good sounding, but Robin could without a doubt play that.

I said it at the time, and I stand by it now. Those leaks were intentional. Too many co-incidences all at the same time.

No im not, he said 3rd single. Atleast that is what he told the girl at the pool in rio since  I used to talk to her. So if that is true, then he changed his mind.

Well, I do believe Better, TWAT and IRS were intentional leaks. Catcher however, was not intentional
