Wow, what a major disappointment. The nice, clean layout is gone - the sidebar is terrible.

It pisses me off because when it runs it goes so slow because the system proccesses take so damn long, that i cant run anything else and to "search" for a song, it goes so slow. The ONLY good thing is the color, i'm thinking about switching back to the old one.

It also went through all 180000 songs on my hard drive to "estimate gap skip playback" or something...WTF is that? I don't want it to do that.

That's the thing I hate about when programs become as powerful as iTunes. Basically like AOL they create their own little world - first it was their special song format - which is okay, I guess, but they force it down your throats and are very clearly trying to make it the new standard for music...you can't buy MP3s from iTunes, only songs in their format...and recently I've noticed the program is starting to "control" my music more - when it converts songs for example from .WMA it never gives you much information on what happens, it's not until you get a full grasp on the program that you realize it converts them to iTunes format (unless you change preferences) and places them in your iTunes folder...which means every time you add My Music to your library it converts these tracks again and doesn't overwrite the original tracks, meaning the album gets saved multiple times to your hard drive in iTunes format.

I only download things that arn't comercially availiable - eg - demo tracks and live performances - all legitimate music I either buy on CD or as a legal download...guess that makes me a pansy....i figure the artists made something I'm going to treasure for years - why steal it?

I second that. And if you're using iPod too, it's better than the old version. I like it personally.. would like to see FLAC-support on it too though. Well, I guess it's never happening, so Apple Lossless it is..

iTunes 7 is a Lemon Say Users
Tuan Nguyen (Blog) - September 15, 2006 12:28 PM
Apple's new release of iTunes 7 brings along a bunch of new problems
Just days after the release of iTunes version 7, Apple is facing a barrage of user complaints and reports about iTunes being well, not much of an upgrade. Steve Jobs demonstrated the new release at the special conference to an amazed audience on Tuesday, showing off features such as free downloadable album art, new view and sort methods, and gapless playback. Unfortunately, some core features of iTunes have now become broken.
Going through the Apple iTunes forum, some of the problems most frequently reported are:
-Being unable to playback podcasts
-Some iPod Nanos not being recognized by the Windows version of iTunes 7
-iTunes 7 not being able to save preferences
-Music often becomes jerky or distorted during playback
-Music becomes distorted when switching to another application in the Mac version
-iTunes 7 quitting unexpectedly
-iTunes 7 freezes during library updates
-Next track is played before current track fully finishes
-Different types of coded error messages
-Unfortunately, the above list doesn't seem to be all the problems that users are experiencing. Many reports say that iTunes 7 is a mishap of a release and that Apple should have done a little more Q&A internally.
Interestingly, Apple has been having a fair number of problems across its entire line of products. From notebooks to software, many of Apple's very own loyal users are beginning to question Apple's ability to deliver quality products -- looking good is one thing, but working well is something else.

The problem is that Apple has become ultra-mainstream with its popularity due to the iPod. It was praised for being expensive but effective in the past - soon the costs will become watered down and the effective nature of the programs will decrease. Macs in general will lose their integrity and become another Windows platform. A new company will emerge in the future and the same thing will happen to them in time.
It happens any time a company blows out of proportion. Look at AOL. In the early days they were great. Once they became the most popular Internet service, they began to suck. Hard.

That's the only one from the list that I've experienced, and it is a little bit slower. I think it will just take some getting used to like with any new version of a popular program.

It's like that for me, I never hear the last 4-5 seconds of the song. Is it like that for everyone, cause I don't even have the lastest iTunes (I think..)?
