That's pretty cool and a nice thing for Matt to say to him. Maybe VR will add him as a keyboardist on their next tour  (I doubt it but you never know)

Doesn't VR already use Scott's friend as an occasional keyboard player?

I said keyboardist not piano, as in synchronizer/effects, as a way to bring a friend on tour with them. But this isn't happening anyway he was only leaving a comment on his myspace.

Exactly -  It's such a joke -  Slash not wanting to play slower/ mellow songs live , Sorum pretending he's some bad ass and a piano has no place in a band,
yet " Fall to Pieces " is the biggest pile of Pop Radio crap that could'nt sniff Patience's originality - that's ok to play live

Not a knock on VR here either - I love the album - just hate that f*cking song

As far as I'm concerned Contraband was a solid record, I'd give it 4/5, but even the best songs on there are nothing compared to the sheer originality or power of the demos. And I used to love Contraband. But now when I listen to it it's kind of repetitive. "Set Me Free" and "Dirty Little Thing" are the best songs on that thing.

That said, I think the second album is going to be stronger and more experimental.

Haha, I'm trying to remember Matt's exact quote of the Axl situation on BTM.  Think it goes like this...

"I remember kinda thinking, 'this isn't what I signed up for.'  I thought I was joining a bad ass rock n' roll band.  What's with the piano?"  Then, later on, "Dude what are you doin' over there?  Who are you, Zoomin Madom (something like that), doing a 72 fucking orchestral masterpiece?"

There's a difference between having a keyboard sitting in the background on stage, and bringing out a grand piano.

True - but practice what you preach for God's sake - Sorum was on BTM taking a stance that Rock should only be about kick ass upbeat tunes, basically

He should have declined to join VR then, because if anyone knows anything about Weiland , it's that the dude writes some very , very melodic stuff on top of the rocker stuff - Just like someone else we all know

Matt just used the "piano" as reference how big/orchestral guns had gone in a few years. When he joined he probably though the band was just like 88.
This is always the one thing people start slammin Matt for. Please get something real.
But I guess people need to have someone to blame for others mistakes.
