ok firstly this is not a negative post if you are hoping it will be look away ok

Does any one know why the dates are being announced this way is it to keep up the suspense to control the pre sales because they are only just getting the dates finalised because they havent got all the dates ready or what it just seems a strange way to do things i thought normally a big batch of dates was announced then a few little ones maybe added in

Mysteron Jarmo do you know the answers or does anyone care to add their opionion to this lets try to keep this a positive post though eh

It's a hard one.

I believe they are announcing the shows this way because they know the die-hard fanbase will hear the news first and may be able to get tickets first. If they announced the tour to the general public in a massive press release I'm sure they'd sell out every show  hihi

man...that's gotta suck having a keyboard that's missing all the punctuation keys ?Grin

JK...it actually worries me a bit that tour dates are being announced this way (ie: hasn't been an official announcement regarding the tour). ?I know not every band makes a scene everytime they make a move, but it's a big media event when The Stones announce a tour. I don't see why Axl & Co. can't make a smaller but significant press release.

Although, perhaps the reason for this (or for the lack of tour titles for that matter) could be that this IS NOT the big kickoff that we're hoping it is. That is what I'm starting to believe.

Who knows...they're playing shows again and that all that matters.

Don't go all gooey on us now.

The band is announcing gigs this way because it's management is incompetent.

Same reason why there is no album, no single and no promotion. I'm sure they would sell out the 1,500 capacity gigs they are planning currently if only they had some material out there, instead of playing 20 year old songs.

In Europe it seems like the promoters would announce their shows.

For example, the Scandinavian shows were all announced at once. The July UK tour was announced at once.

Judging by some of the posts here, it seems like local radio stations are the ones announcing shows in the USA.

For example KROQ's Inland Invasion 2006 show was announced on that station and not by GN'R.

I don't know why, but it seems like they want to announce a batch of shows withing a few days and let the local promoters/radio stations be the ones that break the news.

Probly becasue no one wants to spend the money advertising a concert that might not do so well. Remember the last time they toured?

I'm not a basher either but I've thought since the European tour dates that this was a very poor way of handling tour dates - basically they are relying upon Internet fans like us to attend and spread the word, and also relying upon local radio stations. It doesn't have nearly the same effect as it would if they did some kind of national promotion - announce all the tour dates at once, start promotional ads across the country, announce to the US that "GUNS N' ROSES IS BACK!" I talked to a few people in the States who were fans of the band and they weren't even aware the band was going on tour. Basically if you're not a die-hard fan who posts on the Internet and/or you don't listen regularly to local rock stations you're missing out.

But this time it has to be alot different!! We need this tour to get Guns back into the spotlight in the US. A successful tour, along with a album, or single release will do that.

I feel as if the announced dates are the venues way announcing the show, and management is waiting to release the entire US schedule. I really hope management does it right this time. Lets get the promotion started across the nation, blitz the media with information. Guns cant afford to do a piss poor job of promoting.

I think it's really just an easy way to build momentum. It's, like someone said, a way of letting the fanbase have first shots, as well as letting them get the word out. It is kindly strange, but it wouldn't be GNR if it wasn't strange...

It is indeed curious the way it's being handled. Only thing i can think of is that on a big press release to announce all the dates at once, all the media agencies would say something like "first tour in 4 years since the 2002 tour cancellation/disaster". ?Maybe Axl & co do not want to see that kind of wording printed all over the place and who knows, become the subject of late night show jokes. ?Weak explanation, I know... I'm just thinking out loud.
