A Rock N' Roll bash where everybody's smashed

IMO this sis a crucial part of GNR history, if the tour goes well, maybe a press release and cd etc etc.

but...

what would happen if this tour was to fail, i mean people go on about the fact that there is lacl of promo and substance, and about the 02 tour, sure things went well in europe, but what if GNR were to be playing in front of half full arenas etc, what would happen, would 02 repeat itself, and then we have another 4 years for CD?or perhaps there wont be a CD at all if it were to happen again

my opinion i do think this tour will go well despite all thats been said, but has axl come to the us on the back of a succesful euro tour and expected the same turn out??

I'm not trying to be a negative tosser. The new tracks are amazing. the band are touring well, more likely than not we'll have CD by christmas, and I'm feeling very good about it. But i do feel that if they do balls up big time, i.e. cancel the tour, name a date for CD and set it back, it will REALLY harm the band. I think this could be their last second chance for anyone that's not a diehard fan. however, I have been awake for the last 7 months, so i realise that things are going very well, so I'm not worried.

the 02 tour was not a success and if you think banning people who show some perspective is a good thing than you're on crack. there was absolutely nothing wrong with the original post in this thread. I happen to belive if this tour blows up the way the last one in 02 did than Axl's done. he needs to start promoting this CD also. No more of this "It's Axl's baby and he cares so much about it" garbage. He NEEDS to start promoting somthing.

Here are my thoughts.

One thing I really didn't care for on the 02 tour was the lack of promotion.  Sure, there was the Boston promo clips, but overall I'd say the tour was just announced and played out just like this one is so far... just dates popping up.

I know Axl wants to make this record the best it can be, but if he is seriously releasing it this year he has got to be basically done NOW.  So he knows its coming out, so you must PROMOTE these shows as the shows surrounding the release of the album.  This tour must be a statement; the REAL return.

If dates just keep trickling in with no real press or promotion, I will be very dissappointed.  Maybe he's doing it this way so 4 years from now he can tell people how he was forced into the 2006 US tour? lol

Anyway, if Axl is not bullshitting about CD really coming out he needs to promote this tour BIGTIME with mention of the album.

Put together some radio & TV spots featuring audio/video from the euro shows to highlight what this band is like now.
And put out a fucking single.   I love this band, but they act like they don't want to hit it big again.

Madona fans yes,but gnr world excist in some other way!
gnr fans whose watched gnr 2002 had a great time, and it was a main thing!
gnr fans (with me) had a great time in europe 2006,and i'm sure gnr fans in Us will have a great time with new tour, and for me this is sucess!

If GNR hadn't done any touring in 2001 - 2002 & came out right now in the shape that they are in (& they would have done a killer performance at MTV VMA in 2006 rather than 2002), you bet these shows would sell out & this would be a shock to the rock world. It would be making headlines.

But the truth is that the prior comebacks really harmed GNR's credibility with the larger rock fan base & no matter what they do now with who they have, they have already set themselves back at least 1x platinum because fans aren't as excited. I guess you could say that the GNR comeback of the 2000's is like bad sex. It happened in spurts & they pulled back before they "came" back. The only way GNR can shock the world is to bring back Slash & Duff & Izzy & half a Steven & tour.

If GNR pulls back one more time, you bet this will assure that GNR won't hit platinum sales or sell out arenas again.

As long as Axl wants to keep touring, GNR will have a chance.  Stop being so dramatic!

it might be the last chance for the big audience because people don't know who is in the band anymore. there were a lot of changes during the 2000's. they should put a album out and stop changing guitarists and act more like a band if they want credibility. you can't find more than 3 photos with all the members although a full european tour is done.so if this new band wants to have success they should act more like a normal one (i know gnr wasn't your average joe but...).
or they could do what all 80's bands do and tour with only 1-2 original members with the same songs and no new album. what the hell, i'd even go to a show but that's not the kind of band i'd want gnr tot urn into.

so get the fucking album out!!!

Yeah, It's getting pretty frustrating (hasn't it always been? lol) but this is one time Axl has personally announced a date with any definitiveness. So there's a lot riding on his shoulders this time around, it's infuriating to wonder how this could work out with no clear vision of the future...  no
