...which would you choose?

My college professor posed this question today to make us think. I chose falling off a cliff. Because hopefully this would be the moment in time when I experienced the next stage of evolution and suddenly grew wings. Whereas with fire there's really no chance of survival. How much would it suck if you chose fire and as you're burning to death some wings suddenly pop out of your back? I'd be pissed.

Anyway, kind of a sick question, but blame my professor. It gave our class a lot to talk about so I thought I'd ask it here, too.

Well, you could always burn yourself alive outside of a fire station and as soon as you are torched you run inside and spray yourself with a hose, but if there's no fire station aorund, you're kinda screwed.

Well, you could always burn yourself alive outside of a fire station and as soon as you are torched you run inside and spray yourself with a hose, but if there's no fire station aorund, you're kinda screwed.

What do you mean??  People survive getting burned alive ALL the time.  When people die in fires, they usually die from smoke inhalation, not the actual burning of their flesh. 
But I'd choose the cliff too.  Getting burned seems like a slow death.

I'd rather burn
1st... falling of a cliff is for loosers. you are just falling, you cant fight it. you will fall, and you can relax and keep falling, there's nothing you can do to change your faith(except flap your hands)
2nd... burning. you at least can have some hope, fight untill the bitter end, drop, run, roll,... whatever.
I'm a fighter, and I'd rather die fighting for my life, than just be in the arms of the gravity.

Even if death is a certainty, it would be quick, whilst in the fire, I'd probably be agonizing for a while.

and I think drowning is way worse than burning.

Indeed. Drowning is definitely worse. But jumping off a cliff is better than both drowning and burning.
