Some music mag included their newest album as a "rock masterpiece"...and ranked it above AFD.  So, I listened to some extended samples on those headphones at Barnes & Noble.  I wasn't impressed.

I grudgingly don't mind the new album there's some solid songs on it. I assumed you were talking about Kerrang as they made similar remarks regarding the album when it came out, but in their best albums of all time magazine that recently came out AFD was sitting proud at no.1, my faith in Kerrang was restored.....a little.

MCR are just another prime example of the commercialised, Emo 'rock' that you can't seem to escape anymore. Stupid emo and scene kids love 'em, but eventually when they grow up abit and the emo trend is out they  will be like "shiiiit, i dressed like such an idiot, i cant believe that i'm stuck with this ridiculas wannabee mullet hair style, My Chemical Romance are sooo the gay! Why didnt i listen to Jade when she told me that GN'R are the best and MCR all suck eachothers cock!?!?" Even the chavs seem to like MCR, and that says alot when you're trying to claim that you are a "rock" band in modern day, and you're being played on Smash Hits.

But was funny last night, a friends 18th was at a gig, and went to that before going out, full of annoying 13 year old emo girls drinking vodka in the toilets, shouting loudly that they love good charlotte and mcr. so me and my friend told them that all of MCR are dying from aids ^.^

haha, yes they're lives are so bad that they have to spend their time standing on street corners waiting for someone to go in for their booze. If you can't get it yourself then it's a sure sign that you shouldn't be drinking. I'm only 17 myself, but the difference is that i can get served, they can't, if you can't get your own, don't drink. Spesh at 13, it's just stupid. And i accept that people have different tastes, but MCR just pretty much SUCK.

Wow, you make me so fuckin' proud to be a GNR fan. Not. There is so much incredibly wrong with what you said, I don't even know where to start.

Haha what i say is true. When they've grown out of the emo phase they will laugh at how stupid they looked. And the emo 'trend' is coming to it's end soon.

Can't wait...only to replaced by some other annoying trend. ^.^

you guys do know that you don't have to be EMO to enjoy some MCR?
just like you don't need to be big and black to like 50 cent or gay 'cuz you like elton john, you get my point, if you don't you're worse then those "sad emos" you just talked about

They are unoriginal, and like alot of bands i like today, they can be unoriginal but still fresh and exciting, mcr arnt, they are boring and shit, blande.

Fair enough, i know supposed 'Metal Heads', as they like to refer to themselves as, who like the new MCR album. But then again the main person who i am refering to there is a complete idiot haha

But in general, the only people who tend to like My Chem. are sad and annoying emo's.

but i know it may not sound like it =P but i think it is stupid naming yourself under a certain group. like i get called a 'mosher' :S but i dont see what the hell that is... anywho, i can't quite remember my point but...yeah, i'll stop talking because i have totally forgotten what i'm on about and don't particularilyily care (or have an ability to spell). just ignore this bit and look above =)

infact i kind of rmemeber....
oh yeah... i know that you can't brand everyone who likes MCR as emo's, because the phrase is so broad, but genrally emos have a tendancy to like crap, over played, music that is totally unoriginal and complete copies of every other song in the 'Rock Chart', so you can't blame me for saying that mcr fans are emo's ^.^

First off, let me say I don't give two shits about anyone's image.

I happen to like the stuff I'm hearing from MCR, it's pretty catchy, fairly well-written. Better than a lot of the crap getting attention out there. Fall Out Boy's songs also are catchy, and they embrace the rock lifestyle, have fun, put some effort into their videos. I have like some of AFI's songs; they are fairly hard. All-American Rejects can put out some good tunes. By the way, I don't label any of these bands emo. Emo is Dashboard Confessional, Duncan Sheik stuff.

I'm not close-minded, so I don't automatically write off bands because they've been labeled emo or alternative or whatever. If I like what I hear, I like it. End of story. Doesn't mean I think they're geniuses or gonna be the next GNR. They just are making Ok rock songs. Oh, that reminds me. OK GO has good stuff too.

ive heard them, they all sound the same (minus mcr but they are just crpa anyway) all whiney voices and they all look gay to put it blunt, if i want to look up to a band, i look to someone within it, usually the frontman, that i can relate to.

a person acting very gay isnt one of them. (cause im not gay or bi-sexual)
a person making up fake self harm stories isnt.
people that cut there hair for music videos isnt either.

Yes, it most certainly is!? yes

Although I wouldn't consider myself a big MCR fan, I recently caught their performance in Los Angeles and I was rather pleasantly surprised.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful time at the Download festival this year.

Cheers,
W.R.
