How will CD's release date be announced?

We will hear the voice of God and he tells us, that 'Tomorrow is the last day of your lives, the doomsday'. And after a short silence he'll add: 'And Guns N' Roses' long-awaited album, called Chinese Democracy, will be released a day after tomorrow'.

I was going to say:

Everyone will recieve an email, with Chinese Democracy being the subject. Of course we'll all open it, and then the next day in the post, a very small parcel will arrive. Inside the parcel will be a chip (sciencey chip, not a chip as in Fish n' Chips). We attach the chip into the USB port in our computers, and then a file will be installed onto the computer, telling us how to get the ChiDem album in five simple steps. We follow these steps, and a rumbling is heard from the heavens. A voice in our heads (Axl's)? tells us to go outside. We do, and five seconds later, the album, in all its blazing glory drops into our hands.
The next day, the newspapers are having a field day with this surprise arriving of Chinese Democracy, and the new topic on HTGTH is "How Did Chinese Democracy Arrive?" Not "When Will Chinese Democracy Arrive?".
And Axl releases a press statement saying that his explanation is "Nearly Finished" and we should hear it in October.

My brain tells me:  A small press release coupled with a Rolling Stone cover article/interview with the reclusive one...and band members...to coincide with a single and album release date...however, if reception for first single is cool, all bets are off on the release date, and Axl will be up to his delaying shenanigans once again.   

My heart tells me:  Super Bowl Sunday.

Out of the dark midnite sky, all the GNR members show up at one solo gig of a member, let's say Tommy?s, and drop the bomb. Soon after the event occurs it throws all the GNR boards (yes some of us have to be at the spot) into utter confusion that eventually spreads to MTV, the radios and so on. Then a few days later an official announcement is made. The album n tours are on the way, the first video airs and then all the hell brakes loose. Meantime, the band goes ahead with a secret gigs regardless of the din and bustle. One day in Oslo, the next day in Melbourne?

A very small press release is sent out, basically saying Guns N' Roses will be holding a press conference somewhere in LA in about a week. They don't tell what will be announced, though it would be pretty obvious. MTV and VH1 will both broadcast the event live, as well as a few of the bigger rock stations. At about dinner the day of the event, the press conference goes live, all band members present. Axl gives a little speech about how much this project has meant to him over the years and that he's so excited about getting the material out there, and that the band are very confident that it will have been worth the wait, and he says 'And without further adieu...', then the lights go out. A screen lights up with all this riot footage and Chinese propaganda footage and whatnot, then the release date starts flashing all over the screen. Then the screen says 'Freedom Has Arrived Outside - Go.' The people go outside and GNR play the new single out in the parking lot of the Staples Center or wherever. There would obviously be a lot of people outside to fill the crowd out. At the end, Axl just starts yelling the release date again. Then for the rest of the day, there's a "GNR Van" painted black with the cover art, the GNR star, and the release date painted all over it, while the new single is booming through the speakers as it's driven around LA all day and night...

I don't have a concrete idea of how this could happen, maybe there will be a video and a single - that's something I'd like to see. I could also imagine that Guns play at a huge show or festival and announce it there - something like the VMA's... but whatever it is, I think it'll rock!
