According to Axl Chinese Democracy will feature a few songs with Queen type arrangements.

Besides maybe Catcher I can't really hear much of this in the leaks we have seen so far.

Do you think the remaining songs on CD will be more in this vein?

I suppose you could argue that Better, whilst sounding nothing like Queen, has a simple melody / lick behind it with a change in the middle of the song to break it up...maybe these are the type of 'arrangements' he is referring to

Hard to tell.

This has been discussed before. But I think that the "Queen type arrangements" could mean not only using queen-like harmonies, but also some tempo and style changes within the song. (for example, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, Innuendo, Brighton Rock...)

there is no such thing as a queen type arrangment. they are a diverse band with diverse arrangments from something simple as Tie Your Mother Down to Bohemian Rhapsody. Axl probably meant they are more comlex than verse-chorus solo verse-chorus outro

The legendary guitarist said that he does have some contact with Guns n' Roses singer Axl Rose, however.

"I've actually sent him Christmas cards, just to be cordial, but he never returns anything."

I never took the comment to mean the album would actually sound like Queen, rather that Queen had some influence on the album as a whole.? Too many albums are filled with songs that are all similar in sound, structure, and style - emo and punk bands chief among them, typically - whereas Queen had albums where some songs had no resemblance to others, jumping genres and styles.? ?Given "Better," "Catcher," etc., I assumed Axl meant that some songs would have a familiar GnR sound to them, while others might stray a bit from the expected formulas...we'll see soon enough, I hope.? ?beer

I was never a massive Queen fan until later in life but now I can see what all the fuss was about - the fact they could write a great rock song, the soundtrack song (Flash), the slightly camp and very British song (Fat Bottomed Girls) and then something totally unique like Another one bites the dust or Bohemian Rhapsody and yet blend them all seemlessly into one sound made them so great. If Axl produces something as exciting and imaginative as this we are in for a great sonic experience!  Cool

I think Axl just means that the songs will have complex arranements. He should have said the arrangements are going to be like Zeppelin, because then we wouldn't be thinking that Axl was going to make campy Queen songs. In fact, Axl should follow the Zeppelin arrangement that's used on Stairway for TWAT. He needs to get rid of the beats at the beginning of the songs and go with just guitar and vocals. Then as the song builds he can have the drums kick in and more guitars. Then the song coalesces with Buckets killer solo, light orchestra, and Axl's screaming of "I would do anything for you, There was a Time" part.
