Richard Fortus, the phenomenon

« on: September 01, 2006, 05:05:50 PM »

He seemed really shy yesterday wasn't he? There's a big difference between "Axl the Rockstar" when he is onstage (especially in the old days where he used to be very aggressive onstage like he was possessed and gave 100%) and "Axl the man" in real life. I saw a documentary on Louis De Funes (famous french comedian) where he was described as extravagant in his job (comedian) and extremely shy when he returns to real life. They said that's how lots of genius are. that's their trademark. They almost put their life in game when they are performing/playing/beeing artist. On the one hand, Axl can dominate a stadium crowd with the palm of his hand in front of all the TV in the world, and on the other hand, one to one, he seems really shy in front of one guy and one camera. incredible! Definately. Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson are/were examples of that... real geniouses - super cofident on stage, but shy in public. Quite extrodinary!

He just seemed a bit uncomfortable to me.  I'm sure it was a considerable change of pace presenting rather than performing, not to mention *not* having a band behind you.  All in all, he handled himself quite well, I thought...

I notice the shyness as well.  It's not a bad thing.

Axl did fine at the VMA's - I like how he screamed - classic Axl.

He acts like a person who has done something really, really naughty and not yet been caught.

I don't know.

It was something he'd never really done before, so he's definitely not used to it. He probably got a bit nervous before.

He's used to singing in front of crowds, not talking on TV.

Shyness to a certain degree I would say.  He has said, "Do you know where the fuck you are!??!" countless times throughout his life.  But when he was set to present, he just kept it simple and did what he was supposed to do.  Nothing more, nothing less.  He was a class act, he didn't steal the show or anything.

yes, some people around him have said he is a bit shy and you could tell that yesterday..look at his eyes, lips and the way he speaks and move his hands. ?I say a little of shyness and nervousness. but despite of that he spoke very nice, very confident. ?Grin

he's such a special man, those ?characteristics of ?his personality make him even more interesting. ?love. awww I wanna hug him LOL.

I'd say he's one hell of alot more down to earth and what not then say the early 90s. Anyone else get that impression?

I think he is shy when he isn't in his element. It seems that he was unsure how the "people" at the VMA's would recieve him. I thought it was cool that it was a bit of him, (the  screaming part) and the new and more refined him. (the pulled together and calm introduction). I think it was short and sweet and was perfect!

Am I the only one who thinks Axl looked really unhappy and forced to do this yesterday. Watch the 2002 "catastrophe" and you'll see a much younger looking Axl (by at least 10 years), a much happier looking Axl, a not-shy-at-all looking Axl, and alot more CONFIDENT looking Axl........ironic
If the VMAs can be trusted as a sign of what's to come, I am getting nervous. I hope he was just having a bad day yesterday and that's the reason for his grumpiness and indifference.
