Maybe the release date is, based on Axl's (possible) Freudian slip, Tuesday October 24th?? Axl said the tour will begin around October 24th.? Why that date?? Maybe looking into things too much.? Oh well, the fun continues!!?  What a saga--

---this post is making me feel like a total fanatic---Damn album anticipation is making me lose my mind!  Between this, and the waiting for My Morning Jackets Live DVD (GNR mgt. take note--great idea), I am going crazy!!  I love music!!

For those who havent seen the interview yet, care to elaborate? The transcripts have him saying the tour starts October 24th.

Or that could just be the start of the tour, like he said.  Tongue
Or it could be the date that they'll deliver the masters to the label.
Or it could be the date of an important back-waxing appointment.

Who knows?

Some change must occur to signify the transition from warm up to full on tour

1. perhaps there is a break between the warm up and full tour dates
2. something may be released and change the set list (more new songs)
3. transition from small venues to arenas (again I think they would need some new material out there)
4. album released before or by Oct 24

Then again, simply beginning the promotion for the new album would be an equally likely option. In my opinion.

KV, this 'warm up" tour consists of arenas. All the shows in central cali are arena shows.

You make good points though. Clearly something major is going to happen between now and Oct.24th.

Better than a rumor: The salivating prospect that they may try out a few new songs at these warm-up shows.

OK, let's not set ourselves up for another fall like we did with the rumor Axl would perform at the VMAs. He said the tour starts Oct. 24. Nothing more, nothing less.

No offense to killingvector, but his thinking out loud does not qualify as "Better than a rumor"

We just had a 100 page thread that was more anti-clamactic than Return of the King. Don't get your hopes.

I wasn't riffing off KV but the start date of the tour combined with the "this year" release date. At some point the new songs have to be worked into the set and before that they have to be tried out in front of an audience. These warm up shows are the first opportunity for that. Doesn't mean it'll happen, but it's a possibility.

Ok, thats a good line of thinking, and it is what they did for UYI.

However in the times being what they are, Axl has to know that if any new songs are played before CD drops, they will be all over the internet within hours. It all depends on how many more new songs Axl is willing to let everyone hear for free. peace

Absolutely.
But I have a feeling that the closer we get to the release, the less guarded they'll be about the live boots.
Besides which, I think they realise that the people who are willing to trawl the net for poor quality bootlegs are the same people who are going to be in line for the album on day one, no matter what.

I'm thinking he said October instead of September by mistake.

The tour *does* start at Hyundai Pavillion on September 23rd - Axl said "on or around the 24th of October".

If he said October by mistake then it makes a whole lot of sense.
