How about:

Dead leaves and the dirty ground....White Stripes
Rape Me...Nirvana
Creep....Radiohead
Angel...TSOL (I know that way out in left field....Adler had one of their t-shirts in the first video, I believe)
Wanted dead or Alive...BJ (Would be funny since they don't get along...good song though...
Cheers,

Call me Crazy, but I think Axl could do a powerful version of:

IRON MAIDEN's "Run through the Hills" . I think the pickup and the vibe would be perfect for someone like Axl. I think he could make it his own.

JUDIS PREIST's "Heading for the Highway" the guitars on this song alon are killer and the chorus is very good. If you ever get a chance and are board on KAZAA try downloading this song. Personally its one of ym favorite priest song and once again I think Axl could make it his own

Thats probabaly what Axl already did! hihi Headed for the highway and then ran to the hills! Smiley

BTW Good Song that Axl could really tear up! Grin

Yeah true, But they are good songs none the less

I would love to see him cover "Have you ever seen the rain".  I think thats the name of it.  Its by Clerance Clear Water.  I think it would be awesome.  That song is made for his vocals.

I would actually love to see Axl cover some Beatles songs. His voice is amazing, and so are these songs, and I think covers done by him solo or with the new GnR lineup live would be an awesome experience

Hey Jude - I think his voice would be so unique and perfect for this song. The melody of the song is so catchy and a GnR version just might out do the original for me.

Yesterday - I can totally see Axl coming on stage by himself and singing this song with all his heart. His range and technique demonstrated on earlier ballads would suite this soulful piece perfectly.

Let It be - What could be a better, and more relevant cover to match GnR's legacy? I could see them doing this before Paradise City, Axl perched at his piano and the whole new band into it, just as a way for Axl in particular to say "leave the past in the past and lets move on" I personally think. The point of this topic is to state what songs Gn'R should of coverd, but only using Led Zeppelin songs, oh and try to state new/old Gn'R should play xx song. So something like this

New Gn'r Should cover:

Good Times Bad Times
Immigrant Song

Old Gn'R Should've covered:

The Battle of Evermore
Since I've Been Loving You

Edit: Changed Since I've Been Level, To Since I've Been Loving You

Led Zeppelin while good aren't good enough in my opinion to warrant GNR wasting 5 mins of a live show or an album covering.

are you insane, Led Zeppelin is far better than Guns N' Roses are or ever were.  Guns are my favourite band but every led zeppelin album is better on par with any GNR album, and quite frankly they got twice as many quality albums then Guns do...there isn't a comparison.  I think GNR should cover zeppelin songs for sure such as

Immigrant Song, Axl would sound good on this
Communication Breakdown
Whole Lotta Love, possibly
Livin Lovin Maid (She's Just a Woman)
and you just can't go wrong with Stairway to Heaven..

Uhh, that hurts. Led Zep is not good enough? Then nobody's good enough. It's like saying that Slash cannot play guitar, Buckethead plays slowly, John Lennon was an awful songwriter...

Nu-GN'R shouldn't cover any Zep-song, 'cause Led Zeppelin is only Axl's influence, the others are not really into this type of music (well, maybe Richard and Robin Finck, but Nu-GN'R seems to be going to a very different direction so LZ songs just don't suit them).

Old-GN'R: tough question. IMO there is no need to make a cover (and record it), unless it's better than the original or it's in a very different style of music. Led Zep songs cannot be really altered, 'cause it ruins them. So I forget about the (IMO) perfect songs, and I'd choose Whole Lotta Love, 'cause it was amazing by Camp Freddy/Linda Perry, Your Time is Gonna Come, Custard Pie (Izzy's favourite), Rover and Down By The Seaside (Nikki Sixx's favourite, although I know he never played in GN'R  Smiley)

Although I don?t think they?ought to do any covers and I?d rather hear their new original materials than covers,
I agree with ktucker450 and Mikkamakka on many points except

1)ktucker450:? insane bit. Tastes differ, man.

2)Mikkamakka:? I think new GNR is capable of making them excellent in their own interpretation. Because they seems to be going to a different direction yet with a same rocking spirit (=the lady buying a stairway) to ZEP, so LZ songs may suit them to cover.

And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll,
- you know. ok

So I must admit I?d love to hear new GNR version of
Whole Lotta Love and Cashmere.? drool

I love Led Zeppelin.? ?ok? However, I'm not sure how either the old GNR or new GNR would sound playing a cover of their tunes.? ?

If I had to pick, I'd probably say Kashmir, Black Dog, and Stairway.? Kashmir would probably be well-suited for Axl's voice, especially as the song picks up.? Black Dog would also be good.? However, I think the old GNR would have done a better job covering stairway, especially with Slash doing a solo!

They need to cover Going To California and Immigrant Song.  We all know how much Axl loves immigrants, lol.  Those are both great songs that Axl would make even better than the originals.  Listen to Madagascar and then Immigrant Song right after, they sound VERY much alike during the screaming portion of the song(s).
