How it works I have no idea exactly and am not trying to make this a whole thing, I thought somebody would know but I'm more fuckin confused than I was when I started

roughly speaking, the copyrights concern to a publishing company are for the music and not for  the discs.

Sanctuary does both management and publishing  for GNR and is not the record label of GNR. because GNR releases its record from interscope.

interscope/geffen owns the actual recordings made by GNR, and all of the rights which apply to those recordings.

sanctuary owns or handles axl's share of the publishing rights - ie, the lyrics and the music but NOT the actual recordings.

Example: Axl writes a song. He owns the copyright for that song.  A record label pays Axl to record the song. The record label owns the copyright to the recording. The song and the recording of the song are two seperate properties, the first is an intellectual property - an idea - and the second is a physical property - a product.

I don't know why they would've announced that to the reps then if it's not true.

would it make a difference of what its released under, geffen or interscope ? not complaining, just asking ... would one benefit more then the other if it were released under interscope then geffen, or vice versa ?
