All good points, other than MSG there were alot of empty seats in some venues in 2002. 2,000 seats might be pushing it for a whole tour but I definitely would enjoy a repeat of the Hammerstein gigs

I can't understand why it seems like no one on this board has any faith in this band.

Its not the band that we have issues with. Its the American public in general that arent aware of anything that isnt spoon fed to them on TRL.

Well, no one will know how it will sell until it sells. It's all just speculation, but personally I'd prefer to see them playing only smaller venues, but I'll have faith in their strategy for now. They sold out MSG and Philly and I'm sure one or two other places. Maybe Boston or Pittsburgh? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

we'll see what will happen with selling???
But, we couldn't compare 2002 and 2006
2006 have more than 10 reasons to have a better succes than 2002
first reason is "replacing bhead with ron"

It seems like the problem is gonna repeat. I see U.S. tour dates popping up and still......no word on an album release date.
Axl made a big mistake by touring the U.S. with no album in 2002. I just don't understand the thinking behind it. Why does it look like it's going to happen the same way again?

I wasn't trying to compare 2002 and 2006. Sorry if the sell out question at the end of my statement threw you. It was just in response to someone who said they only sold out MSG in 2002 which I know is not true as I was at Philly and it was sold out. Anyway, we will see what happens when it happens. All else is only speculation from message board fans who really have no idea at all, just preferences and speculation, myself included.

Has nothing to do with faith, it has to do with reality.
The reality is that GNR have been gone for a long time, and to many people are a joke show. Although this is not true, they need to get down to grass roots to get the audience back.

yes, Arco may be a tough venue to fill because some (not a lot) of the SF audience may be drawn to the 2 warfield shows (about 5000-6000 tickets for 2 shows?). Sacramento has grown, but I would see about an 8000-10,000 crowd for that show without a firm album release or a ton of press. Playing Warfield type venues for a warm-up tour would have been a great idea. Tool did it and it generated a lot of buzz. But, who knows, maybe the album release stuff will hit everyone hard in September -- after all, SURELY the album is done, since Axl commented on KROQ that he just didn't know what to do with his free time

he should do 1 round of the us tour playing small clubs/theaters and shit and then when the album drops he should promote the band with music videos and stuff then start an arena tour.

I thought the Warfield holds around 1500 per show?

No, I think its "theater style" (i.e., seats on the floor) is 1600 per show. But it gets boosted to about 2300 (some say 2500) for a general admission concert.

YES!!!! ?I hope you're right!!! I had 8 tickets in 2002.
I have a feeling they'll have a big opening band to help fill these big arenas. ?They had to have learned from '02. ?

I would expect a press release today, with more dates: so far Reno, Sacramento, and San Diego
I would imagine, an official website with hi-def concert footage from Europe would be the promotion for a US tour. Make stickers, with the website address, concert dates, and logo available at Spencers during GNR month in September. I am going to start billing Sanctuary for these ideas (joking)!
