It would be interesting to start a kinda" Dear (Doctor) Abbey" Thread for some of us!

Example:

Dear Doc: I am in a new relationship and the gut constantly over jokes all the time!  It really gets on my nerves and with the kids too.  I ask him nicely to stop, but he can't help it I guess.  It's OK to joke around but when I am not in the mood because I am having a bad day?  It really sucks!  He just won't stop being annoying?

Well, I'm no therapist but maybe you need to have a one on one conversation with him without the kids in the room and talk to him about it.

Also, because it's a new relationship, he may not know you well enough to understand your point of view...

Thank you for the post.  I have many, many times.  It seems he gets a kick out of it especially when it is time for the kids to get ready for bed and stuff.  If we are having a nice quite time when he walks in from work he starts.  I have even gotten mad at him?

I don't know?  Being a kid at heart is one thing, but to make my job alot harder is another thing?  I guess I have a decision to make?

With my 4 year old say,  he plays around and talks improperly as a game?  And I have to turn around and re-teach her words and phrases that she already knew at 2-3 years...  it's messed up?  NOT FUNNY!

It sounds like he doesn't care about your feelings. If he did understand you, he would know you don't want him 'joking around' at certain times. You may want to tell him this and if he still makes a joke about it say "You really just don't get it" and leave the room. Myb he'll think about it. He sounds pretty annoying to be honest with you.

YES!  I have tried that too!  Annoying to say the least.  He has his nice qualities though!  But come on... 

I'll be back for some other advice I am sure. 

I have found out he is reading my posts on this site, so I am hoping this will settle it?

When I feel insecure, i often do something very similiar.
vomiting out a lame joke after an another in rapid fire mode is a good way to hide who you really are.
More avoidant&insecure  i feel towards given situation/person and more i want to avoid certain topics the more "fun" i usually end up being.

..So maybe  he is just insecure/afraid of you?Or doesn't want to let you too close?


Only really good advice i could possibly give tho,
Don't put any weight to "advice" given by shady internet  people who don't know you, your BF, or your problem.
