Sir Elton John is planning to record a hip-hop album, and hopes to collaborate with stars including Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and Kanye West.

"I want to bring my songs and melodies to hip-hop beats," the singer, 59, told Rolling Stone, in an interview printed on their website. It may be a disaster, it could be fantastic, but you don't know until you try," he said.

Sir Elton's latest album, The Captain and the Kid, is released next month.

Like he said, it could be good, it could be a disaster. Sounds interesting never the less? beer

It worked amazing when he performed Stan with Eminem at the Grammys... There is also an Elton sample on "Ghetto Gospel" by 2 Pac which I think works really well.  So I'll keep my ears open.

I guess he can go down as the first artist in hiphop to have actually written their own music and not have stolen form the Beatles or Aerosmith. Sounds like a cool idea, it seems interesting, although it could be horrible...

Normally I'd laugh, but Elton is brilliant, and chances are he'll not try to attempt anything completely out of his typical style. It will probably be a fusion of his typical vocal style with a new musical beat - it's not like he's going to take the stage grabbing his crotch spewing out deep-voiced rap lyrics. Sounds good to me.
