In the first line, the speaker (Axl?) is claiming to be wrongfully accused as being selfish by the recipient of the song (I guess we can assume it is Slash). In the second line, the speaker displays cautionary regret for not carefully evaluating the other person (Axl has often accused Slash as being two-faced) before giving his support.

Few changes the *** are the changes
and on the demo he says read a minute but on the last soundboard we got and on the live versions he is singing ready it baby

Its really hard to get these 100% since the demos and the live versions he is singing different words

but im pretty sure the second line is "I should of looked again dated somebody else" when you watch the rock in rio video thats the line he says.

out the songs we have heard this is the one that grows on you the most,
and live is just surpeb

6 weeks is too long for people to start thinking "oh, this is actually pretty good"

from the record companies point of view, they need something that strikes you straight away. making people buy the single straight away, to make money fast. then they can leave it on the radio and milk it dry.

singles shouldt grow on you, they need to hit you when you hear them... otherwise it aint gonna impress on the first listen and will turn off many listeners. ofcourse there will always be the die hards, but y'know...?

also... when people hear a single, they arent usually bothered how much better it is live they want the version they are listening too.
